We were intrigued by the many extremely positive reviews and thought amongst all those tourist traps in Litochoro this can't be wrong. The odds were against us unfortunately or we were just unlucky. Or we made the mistake to order a daily special? However: we had a moussaka and wild sheep. The moussaka was quite big in portion I give them that. However it did not have any taste, the bechamel nearly wasn't there and dry. Even I would do it better. How can you seriously mess up the iconic dish of Greece in a Greek tavern? That would really make me think as owner.
The sheep came with wild rice and fries (also a "wild" mixture"). The taste in general was very good. Though knowing that daily dishes are pre cooked (which is written on the menu and totally fine for us) the meat was in parts still cold. That tells me it was either in a microwave or someone hustled to heat it up. What we thought was a generous portion ended up in being a huge pile of bones. We literally maybe (if at all) had 80g of meat. Worst of all the meat had bone fractures in it which ended up causing wounds in my gum. Did they drive over it or kill it with a hand granade? At least the waiter apologised and they were also friendly but for us it was the sign to pass on Litochoro entirely.
For us personally it was the worst food we had in Greece regarding taste and quality and resuming from everything we had read in the reviews we were probably just unlucky.
Reading unfortunately now the quite rude responses of the owner we should have...
Read moreWe stopped at this place with no reviews in hand. We just liked its vibe better than other places we walked by in town. We were well rewarded, including sitting at a table with a perfect view up the gorge to the mount. The imam bayildi (imam fainted/stuffed eggplant) was delicious! Grilled lamb chops very nicely done (not the best, but one of the best we have had during this two-week trip to Greece). Greek salad delivered. And Grandma’s Pumpkins (zucchini balls) were unique and good. Dessert of orange cake, which literally dripped with sweetness, panna cotta, and chocolate treat were perfect finish. Service throughout the meal was attentive and polite. Very good taberna experience. Will return if we come back...
Read moreWe got multiple appetizers between 5 people. Food was great, can tell its homemade. Good quantity. Seating outside overlooks street beautifully. Serene lighting. Waitress was very nice and welcoming, when we moved seats she was accommodating and didn't mind. She interacted positively with 4 year old too, called her very cute. Gave us a free dessert on the house. Location is perfect, right in the center of everything else. Lots of parking right next to restaurant. Water tastes great. Everything was exceptional, one small thing is indoor seating doesn't have very good AC, which is the reason we...
