Taverna Dionisos — Restaurant in Meteora Municipality

Although the atmosphere with the chimney was cozy and the staff was really friendly, we were really disappointed by the food as it was not fresh. We ordered stuffed wine leaves which were not home made but just heated up from the can, which is absolutely not acceptable for a price of 8,00€. Also the zucchini patties and the fried feta cheese not seemed to be fresh and home made but an industrial product. The Greek salad and the house wine were good though, but the prices cannot be justified, if food is not self-made and fresh. Also we have to claim that when we wanted to pay, the waited told us that their machine is not working and we had to get out and get cash. I would like to be informed about any problems like that before asking for the bill, because the money withdrawal came with a fee by our bank. Family run restaurant. I would say that always is a guarantee for a great experience. Themis made us feel very welcomed. Good starting. We ordered getaway cheese, tuna salad and I tried the carbonara, even I am not in Italy. All the food was GREAT! The flavors were beyond expectations! I am use to have American lousy feta cheese, very dry and strong. I rarely eat it on a pizza and even Lee's on a salad. Here I ate it by itself! The carbonara was really good, not "Italian good" but reached my expectations; creamy and tasty. When we asked for the check the son of the owner made us try the dessert that was semolina cake with ice cream. The food was wonderful!!! I have all good to say about the entree, appetizer/ salad. The service, on the other hand, was so so terrible. The worst of anywhere I've ever been. 3 boys at the front were a struggle to get anything from. Couldn't get the attention for another drink for wine or a coffee or the check. It took 45 minutes for someone. It was not busy either. When one finally responded to us he started over when, apparently someone he knew pulled up, and he immediately diverted to that person and when their interaction was done he turned around and STILL do not come over!
