Pantheon — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

The host of the restaurant is super friendly and speaks Dutch, English, French and German. He does a lot of effort by saying words in your own language, he even takes time to learn you some new Greek words. The food looks much better in real life than on the pictures in the menu. It was outstanding with a lot of extra's as well. You get a nice plate with fresh fruits after the meal together with a freshly baked citron cake. After this the host drinks a small shot of Raki (the local drink) together with you at the table! Really good experience here with an incredible view, for sure one of the best hidden treasures in...

A Creta si mangia generalemente bene, buone materie prime cucinate in maniera semplice.. purtroppo la nostra esperienza al Pantheon è stata davvero deludente. Non voglio dilungarmi troppo sul responsabile di sala della nostra terrazza che fumava tranquillamente dietro il banco mentre preprava le bevande, cosa assolutamente poco professionale e per niente igienica (ma anche disgustosa!!), ma mi soffermerò sul cibo. A Creta è consuetudine offrire una piccolo antipastino da mangiare mentre si apetta. Visto che è offerto non lo commenterò quanto tale. Sono però rimasto sorpreso quando hanno portato due coppettine con ancora l'alluminio sopra, potevano toglierlo già che c'erano. Io e mia moglie prendiamo un piatto di gamberoni alla griglia per me e un petto di pollo alla griglia per lei. I mie gamberi erano in realtà delle mazzancolle congelate (sono quasi certo fossero di origine Argentina) di misura 16-20, quindi abbastanza piccole. Cucinate male, era quasi impossibile staccare la carne con il risultato che più di metà della porzione non viene mangiata. Non sono un denigratore di principio del cibo congelato ma in un posto di mare ti aspetti di mangiare pesce fresco. Comunque, avendo ancora fame, aiuto mia moglie a mangiare il pollo la cui porzione invece era esageratamente grande. Un petto di pollo così stopposo non lo avevo mai mangiato in vita mia. Credo che oltre a cucinarlo più del necessario lo abbiamo anche premuto sulla griglia per farne uscire i succhi. Per concludere: cameriere poco professionale, cibo deludente, conto nella media (quanto descritto + 2 birre medie 28,30€). Con gli stessi soldi ad Agia Galini si mangia...

Ordered the prawn cocktail starter for €15, didn't mind paying the higher price as we had a prawn cocktail the day before at the restaurant next door and it was quite large. This one unfortunately, was quite the opposite. 6 prawns for €15 is ridiculous. Not to mention - the shrimp cocktail was hot. Clearly not intentionally; the prawns had warmed up the sauce. It was not pleasant.

The fried calamari was greasy and bland, vegetables had been boiled and thrown on the side of the plate, carrots half raw....
