Taverna Ariston — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

I never usually leave bad reviews, but this has by far been the worst food I've ever been served anywhere, EVER! We didn't get what we ordered, and they tried to argue that the chef makes it differently. But it was a completely different dish, and it was also the most tasteless food I've ever (tried) to eat. Even the dishes that were correct were made wrong and tasted bad. Every other restaurant we ate at in Greece always came by and made sure everything was good, but this staff could clearly see the disgust and disappointment on our faces. Don’t believe any of the previous bad reviews of traditional Greek cooking here .. Moussakas for example ..I have had this dish in many places all over Crete and other isles and believe me this is the best .. traditional served in clay pots. Over many years we have visited A-G and always we have been pleased with all the dishes , service and the atmosphere at Ariston. Yes you may wait a bit during the high season when this place has every table full ( for a reason ) If you want traditional Cretan cooking in a small village restaurant dining outdoors in narrow streets with atmosphere to suit you won’t be disapointed here. Excellent service from Helena even better food 👏 wow lamb kleftico traditional good hearty food to die for , my fiance had beef stifado amazing and the wine also was really good 👍 we had a starter too which was fried cheese sakanaki awesome 👌 and then we even squeezed a home made dessert 🍨 wowza Backlava with ice cream 🍦, this was our 2nd visit here and we will definitely be visiting again before we go home in 5 days 😋 5 star...
