If you want to eat delicious and fresh seafood, this is the restaurant to go to, I will go again :).
The food was simply delicious. I had fish (sea bream), octopus, shrimp; but I don't know which one to praise more. The octopus is among the top 3 best octopus I've ever eaten in my life, competing with places I’ve been in Santorini and Barcelona, and the sea bream was perfect, without sauce and very delicious as if you could taste fresh fish on the grill. I also loved the shrimp.
As for the price, it is definitely not expensive for so much food. They get what they deserve👍👍
There were few alternatives for cold appetizers, but the few that were offered were delicious. (We ordered Cretan salad, a tomato appetizer on dry bread and Tatziki) They don't even serve coffee in the restaurant, it seems to be a restaurant that specializes in fish. As for dessert, there is only a nice ice cream on the menu. Actually, if it was any other restaurant, I would say it was a shortcoming, but I enjoyed the seafood at Poseidon so much and I ate it so full with my family of 4 that I happily said "let's not skimp on the coffee", and we were sent off with a sweet taste in our mouths with ice cream.
The service was polite, friendly and very fast even though the place was full :)
The location is also very good, there is a taxi stand at Georgiopoulis square 50 meters away from the exit.
I would especially recommend it to families with children: the children's area is actually small, but big enough to fit a slide and a trampoline. There's also a diaper changing area and a low toilet seat that's...
Read moreWe visited Poseidon in Georgioupolis after it was recommended by our hotel and noticed it had good online reviews. The concept is fun — you pick your seafood from the display, and they grill it fresh for you. We liked that part.
We were two people and had: • 2 small sodas each • Tzatziki with bread • A Greek salad • A small plate of fries • Grilled king prawns (starter) • Grilled tuna steak • Grilled sea bass • Complimentary raki and a small dessert after the meal
The food was fresh and well-prepared, and the staff were friendly. That said, the meal took 2.5 hours, with long waiting times between dishes. The final bill came to €89, which felt quite steep compared to other nearby restaurants — especially since we didn’t order wine or large portions.
The concept is enjoyable and the fish was good, but you should definitely ask for the weight and price of the seafood before ordering. Otherwise, the cost can come as a surprise.
In summary: • 👍 Fresh fish, nice concept, friendly service • 👎 Long wait, relatively expensive compared to local alternatives • ➡️ Worth trying if you like the idea of picking your own fish, but manage expectations around...
Read moreWhat a little gem this is! We almost missed it due to its very surprising and discreet location off a small dirt track right off the motorway.
It’s a very no nonsense affair, with no menus! We were a little confused at first but you then get the hang of it.
The menu is basically a fresh fish counter and a board of sides that you choose from, wonderful! We went for 2 humongous shrimp, octopus, Lion fish (a first for us) and some table staples Greek salad tzatziki bread.
Drinks - would totally recommend that you wait until you are guided into the other room to select your mains etc before you choose the drinks. We blindly ordered some house wine which wasn’t to our liking - and after we visited the other room we saw the bottles they had available and very helpfully they had an open bottle of one I could try and so we selected a bottle instead which was much more a bit of us. If you like your wine… GET A BOTTLE.
Overall what a beautiful little place and stunning fresh fish. The chips I have to say were also… stunning. Some of the best we’ve had right along side their incredible sea food.
Thank you! Recommend to all...
