Let's start with the obvious question. Is the food any good? Well, average at best. Instead of offering generalisations though, I will talk about service, food quality and value for money.
So, service: That was probably the highlight of our night out, we were welcomed by a smiling young waitress, which if not anything else was full of energy and willing to help. Of course, this doesn't mean that she answered our few questions about the menu convincingly, but still B+ for the effort.
Food: We tried 3 distinct dishes, but before I get into that let me share with you my initial impression of the place. It looks like a Chinese fast food shop, cramped with a few tables outside (and inside), cheap decor and the kitchen quite audible when you are sitting to grab a bite. That's ok if you are selling cheap, quick Chinese cuisine, the aesthetics certainly implied that. Unfortunately, that was not the case, but I will leave the value for money last. We ordered a 4 piece appetizer (Gyoza dumpling seafood), the Caramel chicken and one of the two specials, the Bao Buns with duck. Starting with the dumplings, they were bite size, tasted premade (most likely premade frozen and then stir-fried) and were a bit stale. Certainly not worth the 5.50€ asking price, below average at best. On with the Caramel chicken, well another disappointment for us, very heavy on the oil (deep-fried obviously but heavy fried oil aftertaste), the recipe described a sweet sauce with sesame oil and seeds. Nothing like that, it was mostly fried dough, with some pieces of chicken inside and lots of the caramel sauce without the particular sesame kick. It did come with steamed rice which was OK, nothing to talk about. The price paid, 7,50€ which left us with a heavy stomach literally. Finally the Bao Buns, that was the only dish which we somehow enjoyed, the buns were fluffy, the duck was juicy but not crispy enough, they were 6,50€ I think for 3 small buns.
Value for money: If you read all the above, there is no need to explain anything more. The quality of the food offered, the style of the place, the plastic cups for our beer and no cups for our water, leave you regretting the experience. Although the menu is quite extensive and there is bound to be something tasty hidden inside there, the 3 dishes we tried were more than enough to give it a pass. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone really unless you want to sample some mediocre tasting (at best) Asian food. But for that, I would pick "YAMI" which is close by and much better...
Read moreAwful experience to say the least. Went out with my friends and we got some sharing plates; we had to ask for side plates more than once, for them to actually bring any… Food was okay, but it took forever.
It seems, they prioritised take away orders over customers dining at the restaurant which is annoying and quite unfair!
Drinks arrived warm with no glasses(we had to use the water glasses, the water which never made it to our table might I add.) We had to ask for ice for our room temperature drinks, which boggles my mind since most places,if not all give you ice without having to ask for it. We asked for lemon for one of the drinks the second time around and the lady straight up gave us half a lemon lol.
The lady who brought our food from time to time, didn’t even know what sushi was on the plate-she just dropped it and left, we had to figure it out and when the time came to pay she was so passive aggressive… I would only recommend this place as take away only. Shame, because its technically the only Asian cuisine spot in Corfu town, but it’s not worth being...
Read moreWhen searching for a restaurant for dinner we decided on Mr.lee’s Asian restaurant, For appetiser I settled for shrimp spring rolls, They were quiet small and overly crispy overall didn’t have much flavour besides the sauce they pair with it on the side. My Partner settled for the chicken wings and were perfectly cooked falling off the bone with great flavours. main course I chose the crispy Duck teriyaki, The duck was crispy and tasty but was resting on a bed of veg with not much sauce, My partner’s meal was similar. We also got a portion of chicken fried noodles which were amazing.
When paying with card the waiter ASKED if I wanted to add a tip to my meal obviously I could of said no. But totally shocked at the audacity, A tip is not customary and should be of the persons choice IF there service was worth tipping and to the waiter directly themselves not on a card machine you don’t...
