We’d spotted gemista on the menu but went after a lunchtime rush and sadly missed out. So disappointed…but not for long!! We were recommended the spit roast pork (me: what does it come with? Waiter: everything that is necessary”. Brilliant! And he was not wrong.). Now. If you don’t eat meat or indeed pork you can clock out now because I’m going to go on about it a bit. The meat was tender and soft, and it had been basted with something that gave it spectacular “burnt ends” type finish to it. The juices dripped onto the pitta underneath it, so by the time you got to that it had a rich oily meatiness to it. The tsatsiki it came with was rich with dill and garlic - yum! Big fat chips. Salad. My OH had a Greek salad, which was enormous. It was a good value lunch and I think the best main meal we’ve had in Corfu town in 5 days. I’d thoroughly recommend this place…and I’ll be going back for the gemista. No photos because we...
Read morePleasant food overshadowed by the terrible attitude and service of our waiter. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated by a lovely and polite gentleman who gave us the Wifi password. Unfortunately our waiter had the opposite disposition. After looking at the menu and choosing our food, we waited, and waited, and waited, whilst our waiter stood on his phone checking his socials right in front of us, until he heard me say to my wife in portuguese “ estamos esperando enquanto ele fica no telefone” which he heard and promptly came to wait on us with much contempt. Bringing our food he almost threw the plates on our table and walked off so quickly i had to call him back to ask for tarama (which unlike the rest of the food i do not recommend). The food was good, reasonable for the price. But I will not be returning precisely because of this rude,...
Read moreHad lunch at Elia’s Taverna while visiting Corfu and really enjoyed the food. We ordered the slow-roasted beef from “Mama’s Menu,” which was incredibly tender and full of flavor. It reminded me of the kind of home-cooked meal that takes hours to get just right. The grilled pork special was also great—nicely seasoned and cooked just right.
The food was definitely the highlight here. Service felt a bit distant and could’ve been more welcoming, but it didn’t take away from the meal itself. Sometimes a small gesture—like a smile—can make a big difference, especially in a cozy place like this.
Prices were fair for the quality, and the setting was casual and relaxed. Overall, I’d recommend Elia’s if you’re in Corfu and looking for a solid, flavorful Greek lunch.
