Spyros Bar Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Extremely bad experience. We only went there because only their parking had space (this should have been a tell of what’s waiting). They told us at the parking that we must go to their restaurant and COULDN’T go anywhere else. Didn’t mind that, although it was strange. Went to the beach, asked for 6 sunbeds (2 cars, 3 people each) and they said it was impossible (all sunbeds were full at the time) and the guy managing the sunbeds was actually quite nice. A double sunbed was soon free so we took that one, and the rest of us headed to their beach restaurant/bar. Asked for the toilet and the manager pointed us to the sea (extremely uncomfortable - he was serious) before finally pointing our one guy who asked to the toilet. The bar was less than 30% busy, and they told us we couldn’t sit there for long and that there is a chance they must remove us if more people come (we already ordered drinks for all of us - so paying customers). The day went by and we ordered more drinks and got more and more rolling eyes when we wanted to order more - their waiters didn’t want to do the work. Later, we left the bar and went to the beach and spent a lot of time in the water. When we were almost done for the day, one friend and I wanted to get one more drink before the road back and went up to the bar again. We walked into an empty terase with a single table being occupied where two people were drinking their drinks. We occupied the exact same table right next to them, then the same eye-rolling female waiter came and told us we cannot sit there if we only want drinks, but at a table at the far front. We went there but those tables are all directly under sunlight, which we didn’t want - a hot drive back was waiting for us. We then got up, were stopped by the same waiter asking why we’re leaving, I responded that the table wasn’t working for us, then she told us we can now sit anywhere if we don’t like the table, at which point we were to stressed and only wanted to leave - which we did. We were half-quietly escorted by a few greek words, which we can only assume were not very nice as we didn’t know them before then.

All in all, the beach itself is amazing, the people on the Corfu island itself are very nice, but we never had worse experience anywhere on the island compared to the Spyros Bar - by far. Pay heed that we are visiting the Corfu island for the past 6 years straight and visited...

It's an okay place to drink at and eat mediocre food, and 'Spyros' himself at first seems really jolly and friendly, but it's just an act. So be careful because he may surprise you, like if you rent one of his rooms, he may demand extra charges when you check out, like he tried to do with my group. I've traveled a lot in Greece and this is the only place I've been to there that truly deserves a negative review, which you can see here is backed up by many others. In fact this is the only negative review I have written for any eating place in Greece, in this case due to deliberately malicious and conniving behaviors on the part of the owner. Every other place I've been to in Greece has been owned and staffed by lovely kind and honest folks who've never once tried to rip me off. Spyros gave me and my travel companions the only bad experience we've ever had at any eating establishment in Greece at all.

If Spyros' place is the only available option for you for some reason, at least be careful and don't let yourself start trusting him because he seems nice. You don't want to get yourself into any situation where he can extort money from you by making up extra charges or cheat you some other way. Don't run a tab for example. Pay for everything up front, and have an attentive sober witness with you at all times. Don't drink too much at his place either because if you have too much fun and accidentally break something it will...

Verry agressive towards costumers, only tables for eating if you want to just drink something at the terrace its not possible, i had a verry bad experience with the owner of the restaurant, i felt humiliated and harrased, discouraged and discriminated, you cant stay on the beach with other umbrellas or sun tents, you cannot bring anything from the outside, the parking is 5 euro, but if you leave they will not keep the spot even if you paied all day, the same goes goes for the sunbeds [ 7euros / day ]. Verry bad experience. i will never go to that beach again. We wanted to drink and have some snacks in the restaurant terrace but the waitress there didnt let us didnt give us the menu, and after i let the towel on the sun bed and went to a place nearby to eat, when i got back from there, the owner approached me and told me to make a few steps, he after told me that he lost money because we went somewhere else, and kept the sun beds ocupied with the towels ( although i paied for them ) i explained that i was literally thrown out by his employes when we wanted to sit at the tables. so he has a verry big internal management problem. you can just sit at the edge of the beach and see that spyros restaurant is empty and the neighours are full. because of the bad attitude they throw at the custumers....
