Late night dinner... A bit of a tourist trap.
We sat down in this classy look and feel place and received plates and menus quite quickly in a fairly empty place facing the bar and where all personel are quite frequently.
Still had to ask if we could have some water as no one approached us for drinks.
Were still waiting later and I was counting to 100 at which point I would leave 5 euros for the water and leave. Luckily the bar tender asked if we were ready.
We ordered starters and mains. One starter was bread. You pay per person, fine. The bread was basically what resembled frozen buns from a supermarket. Dry and flavorless and served for some odd reason before the tatziki we had also ordered. And yes I mentioned it, and yes it was removed frø. I the bill.
The tatziki itself was bland other than overwhelming pieces of garlic.
The beautiful chicken gyro was ok but again, the Greek pita was heated up to cracker form.
The mango chicken salad was easily the best (very good) thing on the table.
Sorry, no...
Read moreThis place is amazing! I've read other reviews that have said, "This is the best food I've had in Crete for years". But this place really is just one step up from all other restaurants that we went to in the area! The food was just really, really good. But actually, really good! It's like a modern twist on typical Cretan dishes, all presented amazingly and tasted excellent. Lots of veggie options and loads of different meats. They have an extensive wine menu and the waiters seemed to know their stuff if you are a wine snob! I had some kind of rusk bread with an avocado sauce and some sort of cream cheese and tomato thing on top for a starter, which was the most unusual but starter I've had in years! The risotto, garlic bread and just everything was just a cut above what I expected. The layout and scenery is really cool with big banana plant leaves and stuff, with a half outdoors sort of area at the back. If they slapped a fancy name on this and put it in Central London people would probably pay a lot of money...
Read moreHad a really nice evening here with my partner on our first holiday together. We had bruschetta and the feta filo to start, koupes burger and Kleftiko for main, cheesecake and banoffee for desserts. All the food was really tasty and timing was spot on. The restaurant is beautiful and a really nice place to be. The part of this experience that makes it for me, is the staff. The waiters are very polite and extremely professional. Very helpful and knowledge about the wine list. We were the last in the restaurant and there was no rush to get us out the door. The meal was also very reasonable for 3 courses and wine. I was very pleasantly surprised at the price. The only thing I would say was ‘negative’ which is only feedback, the kleftiko could’ve been a bit bigger, but I eat a lot, so it’s not a criticism, because it tasted amazing. Would highly recommend this place if you visit the area,...
