Mom's Kitchen — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

If you're looking for authentic home cooked meals this is the place to go. For the first couple months I was unimpressed with Greek food, possibly unlucky, and only slowly did I begin to find some decent Greek food out and about Chania. I happened to come across Mom's kitchen since it's close to home and my oh my the food is absolutely delicious. Mom has different meals daily and each one that I have chosen to eat has been absolutely delicious. I noticed a lot of the food is baked which for me is great, it's much healthier. The food is perfectly cooked and it's not overdone with spices or vinegar, in which case, the taste is authentic. Fish Tongue, which is available daily, is one of my favourite to eat and is slightly sweet to taste. The rabbit in some kind of red sauce is tenderly delicious and the vegetables of the day are nicely mixed. I've never seen or tasted pasta mixed with Octopus and I don't think I would have ever tried it, however, I took the plunge and it did not disappoint. This woman knows how to cook some great food - this place has easily become my favourite. I always overdo my food with a lot of salt but this food is all too tasty to even use a pinch. Great homecooked meals-we did take out because we are in an Airbnb but you can eat in, if you wish. Simple surroundings, nice to eat out on the patio if the weather is good. We visited twice, and were very pleased both times-great beef noodle soup, lovely eggplant casserole, roasted chicken, lots to choose from. They seem to sell out of their selections by about 6 or 7 pm so stop by earlier and have your pick. Why cook when you can pick up their delicious meals at reasonable...

Food was nice and we ate local Greek dishes with swordfish, pasta with pork, stuffed tomato with rice, etc. Apparently the menu changes every day. We got a very nice explanation of what each dish was by a guy who worked there. The outdoor seating was pleasant. My only complaint is there was a person who was preparing the food and then was smoking outside with their kitchen gloves on, which is a bit gross if they keep those gloves on when...
