BILLY'S — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

We were served pink chicken souvlaki and when we told Billy, he said some people like it like that and was not friendly. The halloumi and fries were also undercooked, covered in oil and tasteless. We wrongly thought the bread we ordered would be pita bread but it was a stale white piece of supermarket bread with a bit of oil in the middle. Tzatziki tasted awful and earthy. Whole meal was bland and undercooked. Couldn’t eat the raw chicken and nothing was taken off the bill, despite three staff members asking if the food was great and the two men becoming quite intimidating when I said sorry no it wasn’t, the chicken was raw. A really bad experience, not sure why there’s so many five star reviews. We had such a wonderful experience here! The owner Billy is an incredibly welcoming and kind person. The restaurant was originally his grandparents’ home, which he has lovingly turned into a taverna. You can feel the history and warmth everywhere — it’s old in the best way, full of character and charm, with many things kept just as they were.

The food is truly something special — it doesn’t feel like “restaurant food,” but rather like being invited to a family dinner at someone’s home. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and clearly made with love.

We loved it so much that we came back many times during our stay — each visit was just as amazing as the first.

Service was ok and it has a very nice roof terrace but the food was not good. Starters were just about ok but our main courses were very poor. The stifado was quite bland and watery but still edible, however the moussaka was unseasoned and extremely dry as if it had been lying out for quite a long time before serving. We mentioned to the staff as they noticed the majority of the food was still on the plate but seems the feedback never got back to the manager/owner.
