Emmanuel Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

Lovely looking restaurant- food is ok. We were here in the evening (2 adults, 2 teenagers) and it’s really pretty. It was very busy which we take as a good sign.

To start we had shrimps in a tomato and feta sauce which was quite nice although the ouzo came through a bit strong. We also had calamari which was standard but it was served with raw slices of onion and no garlic mayo which I found odd.

Main meals we had roast pork and lamb out of their wood fired oven. This was nice. We also had shrimp pasta which was has too much aniseed in it - quite unpleasant. We also had spaghetti bolognaise which had lots of cinnamon in it, again not nice and strange.

Before we ordered there was another customer complaining their food had not come while their partner’s had been on their table for ages.

I think a bit more veg and potatoes would have been good with the lamb, but the quality of the food was superb!!

My son had the carbonara on two visits who loved it, we had the spinach, feta in filo pastry (to die for) and the fresh bread work home made hummous was top notch!!

The local sweet produced wine was to die for!!!

To any moaners on here then if you don’t like it then simply go elsewhere, as this place was packed each time I visited or even walked past it at night.

We ate dinner at the candle light! It was fantastic! The lamb cooked in the wood aged oven has a soft yet punchy taste bacjed with rustic flavours and delicate technique. My mother enjoyed it to the fullest!! The meat fell of the bone and the size was more than enough for one person. I had the giouvetsi. It was such a special combination which i ve never had before! It is a must try! The service was as special as their food! Great people with knid hearts which emphasized their happy attitude! Every bottle of water was brought with a smile!
