If you’re looking for the quintessential Greek dining experience, Esperos is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality that felt more like visiting family than dining out. The service was attentive, genuine, and perfectly paced — never rushed, always thoughtful.
The food? Exceptional. Every dish was bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. We started with the grilled octopus, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender, followed by a salad with the ripest tomatoes and creamiest feta I’ve ever tasted. Our main course were juicy lamb chops and fresh cut fries. The fruit and traditional Raki was the perfect sweet finish.
And the view… wow. Perched high above the Cherssonisos, Esperos offers a breathtaking panoramic backdrop of shimmering blue sea and sky. We timed our dinner with sunset, and the experience was pure magic. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor to Greece, Esperos delivers everything you dream about: incredible food, heartfelt service, and scenery that stays with you long after the last bite. Highly...
Read moreQuite simply my favourite restaurant in all of Crete and I've been 9 times, 3 of which to this village that I've fallen in love with.
You cannot get more authentically Greek than Esperos from beautiful quaint appearance to the atmosphere created by sitting under the trees at the front whilst watching the world stroll slowly by.
The staff are all wonderful and cannot do enough, they really out our service back in England to shame.
As for the food......sublime, I'm not one for eating the same thing twice as I like to sample everything once but I had the Stifado 3 times!! The flavours were unreal and the beef simply fell apart in my mouth it that was that tender.
It is a husband and wife that own Esperos and he is the chef. As she told us many times, his cooking was the reason she married him....I only wish is that I was!!! And I'm a bloke!
My only advice to anyone visiting this area is to eat...
Read moreWe have eaten in Esperos at lunchtime & for evening meals many times over several years & this last week was no exception, it is our ‘easy, go to’ restaurant as it has a great menu with a good selection having something for everyone, whether that be meze, souvlaki, grilled sardines or whole grilled fish. The service is always friendly & excellent whether it’s a quiet lunchtime or a busy evening meal when sometimes they are catering for parties of locals. Having to eat gluten free is not a problem here, all the waiters know the menu & can easily advice what is or not suitable (which wasn’t too much) they were also able to offer grilled rather than fried on certain items which was good. For us the house carafe wine is more than adequate for both red & white. We will be back & would...
