Socrates Snack Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

As a google guide it gives me great pleasure to write a review like this one.

I have dined at this place many times and I actually think it get’s better each visit!!

Socrates it a really great guy who cooks you up some of the best gyros and home made chips you have ever tasted within a family environment with even his lovely Momma cooking in the kitchen.

The mixed gyros is an absolute must, with a side of freshly made home made chips, with a pint of Alpha to wash it down!!

This food eatery is more than just a local place to eat, it lives and breaths local tradition, with family love cooking you up home made food that has been served here for many, many years before allowing tourists to sample this 5 star cuisine!!

Food for for the gods then??

I’d say Zeus himself would be hugely impressed with this culinary offering that sadly I won’t get to taste again until I visit again….

This is absolutely what traditional gyros should be like across the whole of Crete…food...

I visited this place with my wife and kids (5 & 9). The staff and service was amazing. Really friendly and welcoming. Food - Amazing! Kids had hot dogs, burgers fries. Clearly not just bought in burgers and dogs, these were great quality and the kids really enjoyed them..The fries, home made thin cut chips, again really really tasty. I had a veggie wrap and I can not fault it, again home made fresh potatoe with veg in a light bread crumb, really enjoyed it. The wife had a chicken wrap and again you only get good wraps like this in Greece, the best one we had was in Santorini at a very highly rated place and this was equally to the quality. Value for money, we had 4 meals with the extra fries, 4 drinks all for less then 25 euro, bargain! The staff even ordered a taxi for us. Highly...

I Spent 10 nights in Piskapiano and we ate here numerous times for lunch snacks. The menu is small but what they offer is all quality. You won't find a better gyros in the town. I didn't try anything else on the menu as i didn't need to I came here for the gyros and both the chicken and the pork are incredible. The portions are good value but more importantly the ingredients are all fresh. The day time staff are excellent always smiling and the owner of Socrates is also a lovely chap, friendly and welcoming. Also try the greek coffee, that will blow your socks off. I look forward to being back again one...
