Taberna Aposperida. The kind of place tucked just out of the way, no neon signs, no laminated menus screaming “we speak English!” Just a few tables shaded by vines, the low murmur of locals, and a smell that stopped me in my tracks — garlic, grilled bread, maybe a hint of dill on the wind.
The owner, a wiry guy with sunburnt forearms and the kind of charisma that makes diplomats nervous, greeted us like long-lost cousins. Fluent in French, cracked jokes in three languages, and made us laugh so hard I almost choked on my Mythos. We ordered simply, but there’s magic in simplicity when done with love and a little swagger.
We ordered simply, but there’s magic in simplicity when done with love and a little swagger. Tuna salad, light and vibrant, with flaked fish that tasted like it had just jumped from the sea onto the plate — tossed with crisp greens, tomatoes bursting with sun, slivers of red onion, and a lemony olive oil dressing that danced on the tongue. Pita and tzatziki, smooth, garlicky, the kind of thing you spread thick and lick from your fingers. And then… the courgette croquettes. Jesus. Stuffed with dill, crisped to oblivion, like someone deep-fried spring itself. Paired with that tzatziki, they were enough to make you reconsider everything you thought you knew...
Read moreCalled in for lunch after a walk on a very wet day. Choice of snack menu or full restaurant menu. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children and mainly chose from the snack menu. We had pitta gyros, dakos, 2 cheese toasties with chips, chips and to takeaway chips and garlic bread for a teenager who had stayed home. Drinks were large beer, 2 pineapple juice, one orange juice and a coke. The owner, sorry didn't get his name, is an absolute legend, very funny and very attentive. To close we were given small bottles of shots, one alcoholic and one not, for the kids, chocolate and 2 baklava. We are only here for one week and the choice of restaurants is immense in Koufouloutari but we hope to visit again before we leave. Would definitely recommend...

Also the ambience of the place felt a little weird, especially the inside (we did not sit there, however you need to go in to use the toilet or pay). Also from our table we could hear the music from this place as well as from the taverna next door. Not necessarily their fault, however still quite annoying. The waiter was really nice, free fruit and Raki were provided...
