Pyria Hotel... how do you sum it up? 4 days and 3 nights in a modern boutique hotel, in front of spectacular views of the sea and nature, and traditional Greek houses. We started our stay under the warm and caressing sun of a village (Piskopiano) standing at the foot of a mountain not far from the city of Hersoninos, when we were greeted by the charming Goana, and by none other than the hotel manager himself - who gave us a feeling of home and made sure we received a good and warm welcome and made sure we got the room even before the check-in time. The pools of this adults-only hotel are well-kept and beautiful, the beds are comfortable and modern, there are no people here who leave their towels throughout the day and disappear, or early in the morning - which allows hotel guests to always find a free place next to one of the pools, even when the hotel is fully booked. At the exit of the hotel on the left there is a small and cute supermarket, with everything you will need, whether it is mineral water, sunscreen or a snack / fruit. We stayed on a breakfast and dinner basis. As vegetarians, we were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast, with besides the salads an additional selection of vegetarian dishes. Here too, the service is exceptional and flawless. Thanks to Maria for the smile and kindness. I would like to emphasize that, unlike other hotels where you have to wait until a plate of food that you just put aside is cleared - here in less than a minute, one of the waiters notices it and takes care of clearing it. All these contribute to the atmosphere and the feeling that you are really taken care of as a guest. In the bar, drinks and dishes that can be eaten by the pool, at affordable prices, and also here under the efficient and courteous service of the waiters/bartender. The breakfast itself was good, although a little repetitive. Near the hotel you can find several shops, restaurants and bars at good prices and with spectacular views/designs.. All this on a boulevard where you can safely walk morning or evening. I will conclude that the hotel, which only opened in May, is a real gem, and from the first moment you have the feeling that you have arrived at a good place. I would suggest adding shows or singing in the evenings, in order to enjoy the time of the guests, apart from that there is no doubt that it was 10/10 and I recommend everyone to come and enjoy - and beautiful Greece, and this new rural hotel, which is well managed, clean, tidy and good for the heart. Thank you, and a real and special thank you to the hotel manager, who is a champion of languages... and service :))
Thanks,...
Read moreThe Pyria is a lovely hotel in a good location only 5-10 minutes from Koutouloufari one way and Old Hersonissos the other.||Water in the mini fridge upon check in - nice touch. The lady on reception was friendly and also escorted us to our room after check in which was very helpful.||The hotel in general is really nice to look at. The traditional terracotta exterior really fits the local area and there is an abundance of greenery and flora. It’s a very relaxing place to be, however I would recommend that on booking you request a room set away from the road (not sure what room types this covers though). This is because our first room was above reception in the front of the hotel and the balcony faces out sideways onto the main road which is noisy at all hours. The hotel very kindly moved us as we’re light sleepers and we were very grateful. Our second room was near the pool and I would really recommend this room, it was so convenient and there was no noise.||Beautiful clean pool area, clean toilets. Planes fly into/from Heraklion in the distance which we enjoyed viewing. There is an abundance of pools (3, or 4 if you book the pool access room) and getting a sun lounger is usually not an issue aside from at the pool with the fancy loungers. If you like peace and tranquility I would really recommend the heated pool on the lower level (not heated in the summer months).||Poolside food was really really good. Not only was it tasty but staff were also willing to make adjustments to the dishes which was appreciated as one of us is vegetarian and it meant there were more options.||Lastly, I can’t not mention the beautiful cats resident at this hotel. There are so many of them and they are all so adorable.||Overall this is a great option in a great location for the villages. The service at this hotel is really good - special shoutout to Georgia...

The hotel is located on walking distance (~10 minutes) from both the Old Chersonisos Center and Koutouloufari. Both of these are great places to spend time and discover the food and people, but you're reading this review, so you already knew that. I won't bother selling Crete to you any further, lets get back to the hotel
If you come here because life at home is getting hard, the soft beds will have you sleeping like your worries never existed.
The heat outside will be kept there thanks to the airconditioning available in the rooms. The showers are spaceous and flow consistently like the rain we came here to avoid ;) You have the option to digitally let them know your room is occupied or requires to be made, this results in clean sheets faster than you can say 'Hotel Pyriá'.
Wifi is available all throughout the hotel, with spotless connectivity (I tested it because I am fun at parties 🤓)
When we arrived, we felt heard by everyone present on staff, this has continued to be the case throughout our stay. Whenever we wanted to do anything we could always count on assistance from the staff. From arranging transport to making reservations, they have you covered.
The pool is both quiet and spaceous. Perfect to refresh from the heat. With a permanently staffed bar that is ready for everything you ask of them, from refreshments to a conversation.
Our stay only included breakfast so that is all I will comment on about the food: Breakfast is served daily, it varies slightly from day to day based on freshly sourced ingredients.
Despite the hotel being freshly opened when we arrived, it never felt like we were in inexperienced hands.
My personal conclusion is that you will not regret staying here. Modern simplicity...
