The moment I stepped into this so-called taverna, I felt an overwhelming urge to turn around and run. The decor seemed inspired by a failed garage sale, with mismatched furniture that looked like it had been rescued from a junkyard. The lighting was dim enough to hide the grime, but not the pervasive smell of stale grease.
The service was an experience in itself—a tragic comedy of errors. Our waiter seemed more interested in his phone than in taking our order, and when he finally did, he got every single dish wrong. We waited over an hour for food that arrived cold, flavorless, and suspiciously similar to something you’d find in the freezer section of a discount supermarket.
The "specialty" dishes were a culinary catastrophe. The moussaka was a mushy mess of overcooked vegetables and tasteless meat, while the souvlaki was dry and tough enough to double as a chew toy. To top it all off, the tzatziki sauce had a strange, sour aftertaste that made me question whether it was past its prime.
The overall hygiene was appalling. Sticky tables, dirty cutlery, and a restroom that hadn’t seen a mop in what seemed like months added to the nightmare. I left with an upset stomach and a vow to never return.
In summary, this taverna is a disaster zone masquerading as a dining establishment. Avoid it at all costs unless you’re in the mood for disappointment and potential...

We had a lovely dinner here with our family. The restaurant is tucked away in a small side street, away from the busy center, which makes it a very peaceful and pleasant place to eat. The terrace is beautiful and has a relaxed atmosphere.
One nice touch is that you can watch the chef working with the pizza oven from outside – it adds to the charm and authenticity of the place.
The food was delicious: traditional Greek dishes with a subtle hint of Italian influence. We started with pita bread and, on the owner’s recommendation, garlic bread with homemade tzatziki – both excellent. We also had vine leaves and melon with prosciutto, which were very tasty.
For mains, we shared the mixed fish platter for two – very fresh and well prepared, and the fish was filleted for us at the table. We also had the mixed grill, souvlaki, and swordfish – all nicely cooked and served with fries and grilled vegetables. Portions were generous, and everything was full of flavor.
The desserts were surprisingly good, and at the end of the meal, the owner treated us to fresh melon and a round of raki – a thoughtful gesture that we really appreciated.
Service was friendly and efficient, and it was clear the owner takes pride in his restaurant. Even with a large group, we didn’t have to wait long.
If we come back to Chersonissos, we’ll definitely...
Read moreShould have left when the waiter was hinting that nothing was fresh.... I misunderstood this thinking he was joking.
When he brought out our mains he was embarrassed to serve it.
Having been to Chania and Rethymno this trip ( and eaten loads of fish on the way ) and being greek Cypriot myself, you've would have thought I knew about fish to a degree. But no..... the manager insulted us whilst we complained about the tough overcooked calamari. Most of it was left on our plates. Hint hint.
The waiter took one of my 5 mains off the bill but I complained to the manager stating he should be ashamed of what he was selling to numb tourists. He then threatened me with violence and told me to pay up or there would be trouble. I paid my bill but told him where he could stick it. All his staff were not surprised.
He told me to go f#$% myself in front of my kids so i told all his English clients to not eat there.
All I can say is.....
HE IS A DIRTY FAT...
