Poor. Waste of time. We ordered „Matsata with pork“ and calamari. Surprisingly we received the matsata without pork and we kindly asked the waiter what happened. He then said that this is not on the menu, which clearly was and also the waiter accepted the order without mentioning a thing. It was a shame that it was tried to paint it as our mistake. We then changed the order and started waiting againg. During this time we were brought halva and our salade side was just put away, since another waiter assumed we were finished with dinner. Further, the matsata came again without the other main dish, even though we saw it being served to other tables. I can’t imagine someone wants to have dinner for two, but enjoys eating seperately. After asking about the calamari we were just told „ It is in the fryer“. A simple - „Sorry - we messed up a little“ with a smile would have been sufficient to keep us happy, but instead its the guests fault. This place has bad karma and I would recommend to not go there. We paid and left without touching the food because it must be tough financially this year with...
Read moreWonderful spot for tasty Greek home style food! We've been eating here for years, and have also spent many months eating in other areas of Greece. The food is consistently good at To Spitiko. We always order several dishes to share. Our favorites are the Matsata, with either Goat with Lemon Sauce, or Rabbit with Red Sauce and Onions (Stifado); Greek Salad with Local Cheese and Capers (homemade, best capers! as they are picked and prepared by the family); Beetroot Salad with Garlic Sauce; Briam (baked vegetables); Fava; Moussaka (flavorful and light); Tomato Balls; Zucchini Balls; actually nothing we don't like. The portions are quite large and of good quality for the price compared to other restaurants we've tried. The flavors are always great, probably due to the use of local herbs that are picked and dried by the family each year. When we're in Folegandros we are eating a meal here almost every day. We never order the fried foods since the homemade dishes this good are difficult to find elsewhere, plus...
Read moreIt actually breaks my heart to give a taverna in Greece one star.. I don’t think I’ve done that before but the food was awful.. actually the worst I’ve had after traveling well over a dozen islands and all around mainland Greece. I could forgive the fact that half the menu wasn’t available because it was the end of September although it was all the vegetable options that were gone which is strange as there were plenty of vegetables available in the market. It makes me think that they must cook it all up at the start of the season and freeze it rather than cook it fresh?? But the rude man can’t not be forgiven, he was so rude that his much nicer colleague ended up apologising. The Matsata was horrible really awful don’t have it. In all I would avoid there.. there are much better places on...
