Deeply Disappointing
We have been dining at this restaurant annually during our extended stays in Greece, and while the quality of the meat has always been somewhat inconsistent, today’s experience was truly alarming.
We began with a Mediterranean salad, which was fresh and flavorful—until I bit into a piece of black plastic hidden among the lettuce leaves. An unpleasant surprise, to say the least.
For our child, we ordered pork souvlakia. Thankfully, we tasted the meat before serving it to him. The flavor was immediately suspicious, and the odor unmistakably that of spoiled pork—further tainted by what seemed to be a dirty grill. Even the small bite we tried left us with stomach upset.
We discreetly mentioned this to our waiter, stressing the seriousness of serving spoiled meat. Rather than treating the matter with appropriate concern, we were astonishingly offered a package “to go” of the very same souvlakia. It was as if the gravity of the issue had gone entirely unrecognized, perhaps the waiter did not understand the severity of such an issue. Needless to say, I would not feed such meat to a pet, much less to a child.
Management must take immediate responsibility. Food safety is not optional—it is the foundation of hospitality. Serving pork that has clearly been mishandled is not only negligent but dangerous. A restaurant in Glyfada should uphold far higher standards, particularly with the trust placed in them by loyal patrons.
Until management addresses these issues with genuine seriousness and implements proper quality control, this establishment cannot be...
Read moreImmediately after sitting we should have known the service would be bad. There were two waitresses cleaning our table after the previous group. One of them although the table was still looking filthy (full of food crumps and oils) had the audacity to say happily/sarcastically that the table was "Clean/Καθαρούλι είναι"
We ordered souvlakia with steak (μπριζολάκια), a pumpkin soup and one Margherita pizza. I will start from the positive thing. The soup was delicious. And that's when the positive things stop.
The souvlakia were already cold since both the kirokauteri (sauce) and the steak were frozen/cold. The pizza came after a while. Note that we ordered Margherita pizza (with mozzarella and fresh basil on top). What we were brought was their New York Pizza with just Marinara and some cheese. Mistakes happen and it is normal so we told the staff. When we asked the waiter if he is sure that this is the right pizza, again with the same fake sarcastic smile (same waiter) he said that he is sure. But he took it with him. After 5 more minutes they had the audacity to give us the same pizza (now cold af) but with 3-4 basils on top. Now we were angry because as I said mistakes happen but that was just bad service and they were secretly smiling. They finally brought us the right pizza. It was a really good pizza but still the...
Read moreOverpriced and very bad. Nothing authentic about the souvlakia. Do not recommend.
We came for lunch and ordered 4 souvlakia, three pork and one chicken. The chicken souvlaki arrived filled with a mustard sauce and lettuce, which is not what we ordered. We had specifically asked for all the souvlakia to come alldressed (tzatziki, tomatoes, onions, and fries), but the waiter said we needed to specify that, even though we had. We ended up ordering another chicken souvlaki, which finally came the way we had requested. That said, the original incorrect souvlaki was never replaced or refunded, which we found to be poor customer service. On top of that, the chicken in the second souvlaki was undercooked and visibly red in the center. The tzatziki also tasted off and not fresh.
Paying 4.20 euros per souvlaki, when most tavernas charge around 2 euros, felt unjustified given the poor quality. We also ordered mac and cheese balls from the adjacent restaurant, but they tasted overly artificial and were inedible.
Overall, we were very disappointed with both the food and service.
This was my experience and my opinion. For you to call my review malicious further proves that your establishment does not value its...
