Ortigia Resto — Restaurant in Municipality of Kifisia

As an Italian would say outlood ‘Mamma mia’ that is exactly my expression to describe the food in Ortigia in Kifissia! A typical family and friends Sunday lunch gathering in this beautiful Italian restaurant is transforming in a food celebration! We love this place for many reasons, such as the wonderful warm welcome by the owner, the fast and friendly service, but above all, the menu! We are regulars so we have tried almost everything. And trust me, even the most demanding customer with ‘weird’ food habits will probably be 100% satisfied. What I highly recommend are: Bruschette with tomato, parmigiano and rocket, Cheese platter with 5 different cheese - my favourites are always gorgonzola and the authentic mozzarella - Cannoli pecorino with smoked cod stripes (what an amazing combination indeed…), Crusty pizza cheese tomato rocket is simply irresistible, Branzino carpaccio and Beef tartare with pecorino and truffle are definitely a must for those who like raw meet and fish, Lemon Scaloppine with potato gnocchi is yummy, Pappardelle with smoked chicken and mashrooms are the happiness of pasta fans, Pork fillet with prosciutto and cooked veggies tastes great, Beef costolette with truffle mashed potato and bacon is a fantastic choice and last but not least, the sweets will blow your mind ! Wonderful space and the staff was super friendly. They are making amazing pizza and all the ingredients that have been used are first class. Very interesting salad suggestions as well. When it comes to pasta dishes, everything si delicious from the description to the execution. But we would definitely prefer less sauce on all the pasta dishes since this is making them overwhelming. Very tasty but it’s too much. That’s the reason why I am proposing 4 stars out of 5. This is a personal point of view and it shouldn’t be considered as a drawback for the restaurant itself. In addition to that, considering the dish called « Alla matriciana » the pasta type that is used is very thick to be handled with the spoon and the form.
