This hidden gem truly knows how to satisfy your cravings for authentic Greek cuisine.
First things first, the food! We started our culinary adventure with the heavenly Tzatziki, a creamy and refreshing dip that paired perfectly with the warm garlic bread. It was love at first bite! Next up, the Greek Chicken Souvlaki, a dish that embodies the essence of Greece. Tender and flavorful chicken marinated to perfection, accompanied by fluffy pita bread and that magical tzatziki sauce. The stars of the show were the mouthwatering Moussakà and the indulgent Saganaki. The Moussakà, a traditional Greek casserole, was layers upon layers of pure deliciousness. The perfectly baked eggplant, seasoned ground meat, and creamy béchamel sauce combined harmoniously to create a heavenly symphony of flavors. And the Saganaki, oh my! The crispy outer layer and the gooey, melty cheese inside made it impossible to resist. It was a true cheese lover's dream come true.
Maria Beach is nestled in a prime location on Agamemnonos Street, right in the heart of Kissamos. As we dined, we were treated to breathtaking views of the beach, adding an extra touch of magic to our experience. The setting was cozy, welcoming, and infused with a relaxing vibe. It's the kind of place where you can unwind, enjoy great company, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
What truly set this restaurant apart, though, was the outstanding customer service. The staff at Maria Beach went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our dining experience memorable. Kudos to the team for their impeccable service!
At Maria Beach, you not only get exceptional quality but also an excellent bang for your buck. Our group of five friends indulged in this culinary extravaganza and were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. The total came to 156€, which, considering the fantastic food, delightful ambiance, and top-notch service, was more than reasonable.
In conclusion, our visit to Maria Beach was an absolute delight. The food was simply sensational, the location was perfect, the customer service was impeccable, and the overall experience was unforgettable. If you find yourself in Kissamos and craving an authentic Greek feast, do yourself a favor and make your way to Maria Beach. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreMaria is our favourite restaurant in Kissamos & surroundings. We went there 5 or 6 times for dinner during our entire stay as it was simply an amazing experience: a very welcoming and romantic atmosphere right at the sea, VERY friendly staff and owner, a great variety of food, and you always get water, an amazing dessert, grapes and Raki (normal and pomegranate Raki which is my favourite). We were always looking forward to the dessert, as we’ve never had such a tasty (and big!) dessert on the house in any of the other restaurants we went to. The warm, fluffy chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was simply a dream and we always went home full and happy. We tried many dishes on the menu and enjoyed all of them: Shrimp Saganaki, the salmon, beef steak, Fava, Mousaka, courgette flowers, spicy cheese dip and so on. And we always ordered bread with Tsatsiki. Simply amazing! All dishes were well seasoned and were not as “oily” as it is often the case in Greek restaurants. The menu consists of traditional Greek dishes and other more international dishes, such as Risotto (which is amazing!). The price is completely fair. We are big eaters, and we paid around 30-40 Euro for 0,5-1 l of wine, several starters, grilled bread, two main dishes, and the water, Raki, and dessert & fruit on the house. The outdoor seating area right next to the sea is really nice and romantic. From our second visit on, they remembered us and gave us a really warm welcome - they gave us two Longdrinks on the house, remembered that I loved the Raki with pomegranate etc. They simply made our experience perfect. For us, it is the best restaurant in Kissamos (+neighbourhood) based on the great food, the friendly staff and the nice atmosphere. We will definitely come back when we are in Crete again.
Recommendation: Ask for Mastiha liqueur (traditional Greek liqueur) with Tonic....
Read moreWe spend 3 days in Kissamos in May 2016. We went twice to Maria beach restaurant to have dinner, a welcoming tavern along the beach. Even thought the menu is not very detailled, waiters explain kindly what the meals are made of and how they are cooked. The first dinner, we took sword fish souvlaki, Imam (eggplants stuffed with onions, tomates, cheese), Feva (smashed peas with tasty olive oil) and Pleurotes (Mushrooms grilled with balsamic vinager, garlic and persil). At the end of this first dinner, we decided to reserve the traditional greek meal (which has to be ordered in advance cause it needs a long cooking time) for the day after. Made of chicken and lamb boiled for hours and served with risotto rice style cooked in the meat fat with fresh cretan butter, this meal is a typical cretan dish for celebration. We had a starter before that (grilled vegetables with garlic, balsamic vinegar and persil) which was probably not necessary considering the size of the traditionnal greek meal. This dish was astonishing, tasteful, the meat was very tender and rice was full of flavors. Raki and deserts were offered to us at both dinners and were also very good. Count around 35€ for 2 people with drinks! It was our best culinary experience in Creta among the 10 restaurants we visited during...
