This place truely is special - where it is located (at the harbour), how it looks (loved the open terrace and its stylish furniture), the very attentive and always friendly service as well as the kitchen which is partly open if you sit in the back of the restaurant. The quality of the food is amazing and you can tell that all dishes have been prepared with love and are well balanced. As someone that calls Italy his second home I highly appreciated the use of capers.
Dishes we had: the village salad: the freshness of the ingredients was superb local sausage with mustard: delicious feta cheese with thyme and honey: try this with the vinegar sauce of the octupus in vinegar and thank me later octupus in vinegar: A+++++ meatballs with mint: The way the meatballs have been fried was special as was their taste dessert = homemade Baklava: what a beauty. The spices along with the honey and nuts made it unforgetable
Well, you can see that 1) I took example by a previous review that actually made us vist the place and 2) I am a 100% in love with the place so over the next days I'll surely visit it again.
PS special thanks to the service for offering help in finding good fish restaurants on the island
PPS we went again two days later and again everything was superb! Special mention for the "Chicken eats the corn" which was fried on point (if you appreciate a good, juicy fried chicken, you need to have this one!!! The homemade mayonnaise with mustard is the perfect company). 2nd special mention goes to the pastry selection with syrup. Just stunning - you do not want and need to count calories with this one but, again, the mixture of nuts, pistacchio and spices is a dream come through - I'm a sucker for a good Baklava, I admit).
PPPS only brought my cellphone the second time and my pictures do NOT do the food any justice so I...
Read moreVery Average food and service + limited menu options if you’re coming from Ikos hotel
*restaurant response is typical of an establishment that takes no accountability. I was being polite in my initial review but in light of their passive aggressive reply I feel the need to provide more context.
We turned up from the coach and there were no “tables of four” anywhere near the front of the restaurant by the sea (its main selling point). We chose to sit on square table that still seats four rather than a larger rectangle one all the way at back. We did this with good grace and i did not complain about table size in my review.
The rude waiter who clearly had a chip on his shoulder then produced a pitiful menu with 4 starters and 4 mains. These included only the cheapest and most basic options. Subsequently, when I dared to ask to see the full restaurant menu he got super defensive saying this menu was agreed by ikos and proceeded to snatch the old menus and returned some time later with the restaurant ones.
When food came it was tasteless, calamari was clearly frozen not fresh and repeatedly deep fried, chicken was bland and again over cooked and the kids meatballs had been cremated.
As for service, waiter would not give us eye contact and I had to repeatedly get up to get his attention and ask him to clear table for next course.
My review has nothing to do with mutual respect or whatever nonsense has been said. I’m simply basing it on fact. Beware ikos guests, better to stay at hotel...
Read moreSome places feed your body. Others feed your soul. This charming, family-run Greek restaurant by the beach manages to do both—so much so, we had dinner here one evening and couldn’t resist coming back the next. From the moment you step in, there’s something undeniably magical in the air, it’s the unmistakable energy of a family pouring their hearts into what they do. The staff welcomes you like an old friend. There's laughter, genuine smiles, and the kind of hospitality that goes far beyond good service—it’s a feeling of being truly cared for. The matriarch of the family, their grandmother, quietly oversees the flow of the evening with the grace and wisdom of someone who has done this for a lifetime. Her presence alone feels like a blessing on the meal. Each dish is a celebration of tradition: fresh, honest ingredients prepared with skill and love. You can taste generations of family recipes in the food—each bite filled with warmth and generosity. There’s no pretension here, only passion. And that passion resonates in the way the family works together, the way they talk to their guests, and in every plate that comes to the table. It’s rare to find a place where food, atmosphere, and people come together in such harmony. Dining here isn’t just a meal—it’s a memory. One you'll want to relive...
