Ευ Ζειν (Χάρης ) — Restaurant in Municipality of Lavreotiki

Weird experience and utterly impolite. We sat down at a table for four. Other tables (all locals maybe?) were being served constantly, but we didn't. Never got any drinks or a menu. Since we were getting hungry one of us got up to ask inside for drinks and a menu to choose from. Also got ignored. When actually pressing for some attention we got the message from the only staff member that spoke English that they were not serving anymore (even though they were for all the people around us and it was still a normal lunch hour) and that they only worked on reservation (even though there were no reservation signs and no one else was waiting and we sat at a free table amongst all the other guests...). So only locals? Not in the mood to help tourists? Language problems? No idea..

Anyway, we could have sat there for four hours and no one from the staff would have given us the light of day, so utterly impolite place to say the least. We decided to drive to downtown Laurio, a few minutes drive, and had the friendliest service, athmosphere and best meals at the local family restaurant (fish, meat ánd vegetarian) right in the middle of the...

Extremely good and abundant food!! They may be scared of you at first, but give them some time and they’ll serve you. Even though it’s said to be men only, we did see a woman eating there (with her husband).

We ate a proper salad, handmade fries, 7 fried fished and 4 full fried calamari, plus 2 beers for €62.

I do think they overcharged us, but the food was proper and exquisite. Plus it was an experience itself to see this bunch of elder men living their lives at their social...

This place is a "cafenion" means a sort of a cafe + festaurant. It offers mainly short drings and snacks but also main dishes on demand. It is a sort of place very popular in the Southern Eurlope and Midle East where only men come, although in the European Countries this custom is litle relaxed.
