UMAMI The 5th Taste — Restaurant in Municipality of Mytilene

Wow!! My partner and I are Americans abroad, and we happened to walk by this place while strolling. Feeling peckish, we thought we'd check it out, and weren't expecting anything spectacular. Oh how wrong we were! This place is FANTASTIC. The food is a sort of USA/Mexican/Asian fusion, and it is easily matches, and even is better than much similar fare you can find at even the best restaurants in the states. As a wing fan, the Gochujang wings in particular were quite possibly the best I've ever had; the Carnitas tacos are on par with those in my home state of Colorado; and the pulled pork sandwich was straight out of a Texas Barbecue. Εγώ σαν τουρίστας στο νησί θεωρώ ότι είναι ένα μαγαζί που έλειπε και μάλιστα πάρα πολύ. Φτάνει πια με τα πιτόγυρα και τους μεζέδες. Πολύ ωραίες προτάσεις, γευστικές και τιμιότατες τιμές. Έχει επιλογές για όλα τα γούστα και όπως θα δείτε και στις φωτογραφίες δοκιμάσαμε αρκετά πιάτα, οπότε έχω ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα.

Σαν λάτρης των burgers έχω να πω ότι μου άρεσαν πολύ (Truffle & Voyager 3) τα οποία είχαν φρέσκο μοσχαρίσιο κιμά, φρέσκιες πατάτες και φρέσκα χειροποίητα ψωμάκια. Οι σαλάτες ήταν ΦΑΝΤΑΣΤΙΚΕΣ, ειδικά το buddha's bowl (επιλογή vegetarian) το οποίο είχε ανατολίτικο άρωμα. Ευχάριστη έκπληξη ήταν και τα noodles (λαχανικών & Teriyaki)!

Από τα signature dishes πήραμε το pork belly και η παντσέτα έλιωνε στο στόμα αλλά προσωπικά θα ήθελα κάτι περισσότερο από αυτό το πιάτο γαιτί μου θύμισε πολύ το umami secret (σάντουιτς) στο οποίο θα αναφερθώ σε λίγο. Όσον αφορά τα χειροποίητα ψωμάκια (Flatbread & Umami secret) ήταν φα-ντα-στι-κά. Ό,τι πρέπει για ένα on the go lunch αλλά και σαν συμπληρωματικό στα κυρίως.

Τέλος, πήραμε και τηγανιτές πατάτες αρωματισμένες με λάδι τρούφας και παρμεζάνα (Ο,ΤΙ καλύτερο).

Γενικά προτείνεται με κλειστά μάτια και αν θεωρείτε ότι η κριτική παραείναι καλή για να είναι αληθινή απλά δοκιμάστε!

Un régal, un délice, que dis-je, l'extase absolue d'un mets cuisiné à la perfection. Nous passions fortuitement près de ce restaurant, cherchant passivement un lieu où souper, lorsque, soudainement, nous vîmes cet établissement de street food, qui semblait sortir du cadre de l'habituel restaurant, transcender le quatrième mur, par son cadre idyllique. C'est sans aucun délai que nous cherchions une table, avec une hâte inégalable. Cependant, la réalité dépassait largement toutes nos futiles attentes humaines. A peine nos assiettes arrivées, aucune force extérieure n'aurait pu nous contraindre de détourner les yeux de ce que nous voyions. Des couleurs, des formes, des textures que nous n'avions jamais appréhendées au paravent, digne de l'étoile Michelin. L'apparence n'était pas un leurre, le goût dépassait largement l'imaginaire. Comment re-manger après avoir goûté à de l'ambroisie? Avoir goûté à l'aboutissement même de l'humanité? Nous aurions même dévoré les assiettes, si nos ventres n'étaient déjà emplis par la très généreuse quantité de ces plats. Nous aurions vendu nos organes pour payer ce repas s'il le fallait, mais ce n'était point nécessaire: les prix sont absolument futiles par rapport à la qualité divine proposée.
