This will be long, but I want to be very specific because I see the owner sometimes likes to accuse people of posting fake reviews. We were invited to sit down by the lady out front, who seemed nice and recommended we try their seafood platter for two. The restaurant looks as if it's seen better days, but since the lady said it was a family-owned business, we thought we'd give them a chance. Big mistake. Firstly, there are obvious problems between the kitchen and the front staff - orders are taken quickly, but you have to wait a long time for the food to come out. That's not such a problem in itself, the problem is when the food does come out, you end up wishing it didn't. The seafood platter consists of grilled sardines, octopus, fried squid, gouna, mussels, two shrimps and fried potatoes. Nothing is actually fresh. The only things remotely edible are the squid and the potatoes, which reminded us of eating in bad canteens during our college years. The sardines were burned and stale, the "octopus" was the round pieces you can buy frozen from a supermarket, the gouna was covered in what seemed like old, congealed oil, and the shrimp was like rubber. We were actually afraid to eat the mussels - we each took only one small bite and decided it was not worth the potential food poisoning. They were bone dry, crumbling under the tongue. I have no idea how old mussels would have to be to end up in such a state and I honestly don't even want to know. We didn't eat half of what was on the plate. The dessert, brought to us on the house, was a shapeless white mass of basic whipped cream sprinkled with crushed Oreos. We took one look at it, gave up on the entire mess and went inside the restaurant to pay. One glimpse at the kitchen shows you these people know they're doing a bad job. There's no energy, no sense of pride, the place looks dirty and neglected. I want to stress, my partner and I know food - we come from a Mediterranean country and we travel a lot. One of the many reasons we fell in love with Greece years ago is precisely the food, and Naxos in particular felt to us like gastro heaven: you are spoilt for choice on this island. Well, this place is the exception to the rule. The whole thing reminds you of those restaurants you'd see on Hell's Kitchen or something. I honestly hope they try to turn things around because competition on Naxos is insane and I can't see how a place like this can survive if they keep doing what they're doing. Just a depressing, heartbreaking...
Read moreHi, the food was good and so was the service at first then it took a twist. Also my brother ordered the shrimp it is only 5 shrimp for 18€ NOT WORTH IT. They took our almost FULL pizzas to the back to box them up and brought us back a huge box. But when we back to the place we were was staying at we realized an entire pizza was missing. As in 6 slices out of 8. They were closed by the time we got back and we went back the next day to tell them that a pizza was missing after calling and getting no answer. I brought my receipt and told the women at the front that they didn’t bring us back out one of the pizzas. She assured me that it was giving to the cute little local wildlife and not to worry. I told her that we had wanted to keep that and our waiter told us he would be boxing up all our food. She told me he must have misunderstood and not to worry that it was feed to the cats. I said okay but what about me I paid for an almost complete pizza I didn’t eat. I asked for a partial refund or another pizza and she told me it was too busy to deal with me. There were three tables being occupied and that was all. She then told me to come back at 2 pm the next day which I couldn’t do as I had to leave the island. I said I couldn’t do that and she kept saying it was too busy. So then I went to our waiter from the night before. We had many conversations in English the night before but the second I started telling him there was a problem he all of a sudden couldn’t understand me. He then began laughing and shrugging and just kept saying pizza packets over and over. I got extremely frustrated and left because he just kept laughing at me. I paid for yes not a super expensive pizza but didn’t even eat half of it. I’m so disturbed at how they treated the situation and did not apologize once. Also I realized and went to them within 12 hours of eating there and tried calling beforehand to speak to someone. So check your food if you take it with you. It’s not something I’m used to as where I come from you bag it up yourself so now I know to check the food before taking it. So prewarning they take no accountability and are extremely rude if there is a problem. I also wasn’t yelling or anything just trying to talk to them about it and they were brushing me off or quite literally...
Read moreHorrendous service, despicable really. The blonde lady at the front of the restaurant was lovely, always welcoming us to come inside whenever we walked past and invited us to sit where ever we wanted so we did. Then a much older man came making annoyed hand signals for us to move to another table. We chose to stay where we were, he looked angry and hostile, sweating all over his face, no greetings or smiles just a look of pure hard hatred. Then in an angry and animated fashion he threw a table cover over the table, making it go into our faces, still hard and angry saying "you're not helping" ???? Clearly annoyed at having to make up the table. We got up to leave and said we'd go somewhere else and he said "go on then". The lady at the front said he was "stressed". Wow!!!! Is this a serious business or not? I said no, he's extremely rude and should not be working in a restaurant with the public. He seemed the eldest of all the staff but wasn't the manager. The lady tried to get someone else serve us but I told her we would not be spending our money there after the treatment...
