The location of this restaurant is well hidden away, which they have done a good job of creating a unique ambience that really is beautiful, yet simple.
Apostolis was the first place my wife and I had found on Naxos that was at full capacity, with a steady number of people coming in regularly. The first attempt we had made to get seating, we stood in the middle of the place for 15-20 minutes trying to get the attention of the staff. What we learned is the were very well versed in avoiding eye contact, and acting as best they could that you don't exist.
After waiting 15-20 minutes, we decided to have a walk around and possibly try again later. After shopping for 45 minutes, we returned, with the restaurant still being fairly full, with some open seats. After finally having the third waiter finally acknowledge us talking to them, they seated us at a small table with some menus. Around 25 minutes after being seated, we had Recieved some bread with olive oil, cream cheese, and olives. While the bread was good, it tasted as though it was dipped in salt and was near unpalettable. Another half an hour goes by as we repeatedly try to wave our server down to order food. Despite having been in our vicinity and serving tables all around us, he refused to actually acknowledge us. We got the attention of another server who we asked if we could order. She smiled, said yes, then walked away.
After waiting over 1 1/2 hours to order food and drinks, we decided to quit while we were behind and left.
This place is obviously understaffed and has management who truly do care about proper treatment and training for their staff. Given our exemplary experience in near every other restaurant in Naxos, I would strongly recommend not going here as there are many, many better choices that won't end your evening on...
Read moreOur experience at this restaurant was highly disappointing. We had made a 10-person booking and arrived on time, only to be told that we had to wait 15 minutes for our table. However, the wait extended to another 15 minutes, and when we inquired about the delay, the staff explained that the previous guests hadn't left yet, despite having paid.
We asked the restaurant to inform the guests politely and ask them to vacate the table, but at first they refused to do so. Then they finally send someone twice to the table asking to vacate it (that's what they told us, they were lying), but the guests were still not leaving. As we continued to wait for over an hour in the sweltering heat, we kept escalating our complaints, but nothing was done. Eventually, after exhausting patience, one of my friends approached the guests at the table himself to find out that they had never been asked to vacate. The guests left promptly after we approached them, something the restaurant staff had to do themselves in the first place.
It was evident that the staff had lied to us, and their lack of transparency was frustrating. The overall waiting time amounted to one and a half hours before we could finally sit down to eat! To add to our dismay, the restaurant offered no compensation or apology proactivepy for horrible service, and we had to request it ourselves and escalate it manager.
This experience left us deeply dissatisfied, and we cannot recommend this restaurant due to their abysmal service and lack of...
Read moreI am sorry to write it but I consider this place a tourist trap. We had a reservation done but if we did not catch the waiter, we could stand for hours at the front being ignored by the service that was sitting people from the queue to the tables. Then waiting time for the waiter to come and collect the order was above 30 minutes and I think he came only because we intervened eventually. Meanwhile we got some bread, cheese and broth as ‘waiting dish’ (nicele served indeed!) and despite we did not order it, we were charged for it. The food we ordered was good however entire experience was not good at all due to the atmosphere of the place of total chaos, people walking in asking of tables and waiters running around while tables were not served regularly though. There is something not functioning well about the place. It seems to be very popular for American tourists though. On the positive side - the location is lovely with charming lamps hanging above the tables. And waiters, despite super busy, were friendly. I will not come back and will not recommend the place to my friends though-there are many by far better places where you can enjoy Greek food and...
