DON'T BELIEVE THE RECENT NEGATIVE COMMENTS. I have been traveling for close to 8 months in the Greek Islands in total, and this place is greek classical grand-ma food tavern, close to its best.
No menu? that's because the old greek ladies cook prepare and cook different meals every day! So, yes, no 'menu', and the list of meals is reduced, but that's a guarantee of fresh food. ('Less is more' sometimes...).
I have eaten some of the best typical meatballs here, and the Greek salad with local cheese is delicious!
This place is like a cantina where you wanna come back.
Please understand as well that this place is held by local elderly people, not speaking English (except one young friendly waiter dealing with all the orders), not gross at all as some said in previous comments. Just don't expect a fake american smile for the customers. This place is local and...
Read moreProbably the best spot in the island with some lovely people taking care of you! A traditional greek coffee shop and restaurant also a convenient store, as is the case in very small islands or villages in Greece. A place where everyone hangs out and feels at home. Starting in the morning with Greek Coffee (warm or Frappe) and toast. In the evening you will find fantastic homemade food by Emi, excellent flavours and the best part is that the menu changes each day. We were looking forward each day to sit for dinner and have Emi come with her daily menu options! We loved the traditional pastitsio, but with her twist, chicken mince meat instead of beef! A must try place if you want an authentic experience...

Now, the old vibe has been replaced by a poor mix of its traditional looks, an effort to be 'neo-chic', and unprofessional service. The food though is very tasty, and the location is truly one of a kind. Prices are above average.
What really made me not want to return, though, was the rude attitude of one of the waitresses, who insisted we had ordered dishes we hadn't and, in general, handled any customer request with a bad attitude - even when we pointed out a mistake on the bill. It's a pity that the oldest café at the port of Donoussa leaves customers with an uncomfortable feel, despite its charm and...
