Just incredible. Planning a wedding dinner here! We stopped here unexpectedly after getting out of a taxi, we had 3 hours to kill before our ferry. I won’t lie, we’d originally planned to walk to somewhere that had been recommended but we had luggage and it was hot. We took a gamble and I’m so glad we did as I’m considering having either our wedding reception here or a welcome dinner for our guests.
The food was so fresh and so well cooked. They’re part of a cooperative whereby most of their dishes are cooked with homegrown Naxian ingredients. Beautifully seasoned and was brought out as each dish was cooked. We had a mezze of zucchini balls with tzatziki, mixed vegetable salad (omg the potatoes ❤️❤️❤️) warm pitta with cow butter and a creamy yoghurt dip, spring rolls, and dolamades. Everything was perfection. We finished off with a slice of orange pie which was so juicy! We had the most beautiful Greek wine that was so light and fresh. Probably had one too many but it was the last day of our holiday and it was simply delicious.
The service was great and they were so friendly and accommodating. We each tipped 20% on top and it was so deserved.
The courtyard is beautiful at the back, right on the front it’s well shaded and has a lovely view of the port. You wont regret...
Read moreTaverna (1926) in Chora Naxos is a wonderful restaurant. The hostess, Kostadinas (please pardon the spelling), was sweet and friendly. Since service was so good the first time, we went back a second time and she not only greeted, but remembered us. Wwe chose to sit in the Garden because it's quieter than the port. Our waiters both times were Elias and Poppas (again, please pardon the spelling). Elias is very kind and patient, answering our questions and making recommendations about the menu. Poppas is friendly and personable; he seems to have a wonderful pulse of the island and made great recommendations for Gelato and for restaurants in Plaka. Both times we ordered a bottle of Ergo wine, which is light and crisp. For appetizers across both visits, we ordered zucchini balls, spicy naxian cheese, and pita bread with dips. For salad we had the green salad. For entrees across both evenings we ordered octopus with traditional pasta, risotto with chicken and mushrooms, shrimp with orzo, and kleftiko. We only did one dessert there, the orange pie, and it was delicious. The food was wonderful and the service was among the best we had in Greece. We would definitely recommend this restaurant when...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing food. We came here almost everyday in our week on Naxos! They had some unique items on the menu we hadn’t seen elsewhere - such as shrimp souvlaki. Portions were very generous - especially the Caesar salad and the seafood pasta.
We spent ~15-20€ per person (including drinks and gratuity) and we were always very satisfied and very full. It was possible to pay with cash or credit card.
✅ Good: Everything, food was tasty and fresh (the seafood pasta was 20€ and took 3 of us to finish it), generous portions of complimentary bread with tzatziki and garlic butter, the schnitzel was so well breaded and went amazingly with their mushroom cream.
Service was fast and efficient, we also got a rotation of complimentary house deserts on each visit (cakes, yoghurt, pastries). We were also able to takeaway our leftovers. There are restrooms available and they were well maintained. It was possible to pay with both cash and credit card.
Overall, we had an excellent time here every time we were here. Would strongly recommend this place to...
