The Locals Brunch & Bar Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

While in Naxos we were walking down the street when we came across The Locals restaurant. A lovely hostess named Ifigeneia greeted us with a warm smile and some welcoming banter. We hadn’t intended to go to this restaurant but Ifigeneia was very convincing and we felt good about supporting this local business. Maria was our waitress and we were again pleasantly greeted by her. She was able to tell us about the specialty cocktails here - I had the Crocus Pocus and my friend had some Ouzo. We also had the zucchini fritters. The drinks and appetizer were outstanding! We wound up ordering a second round. The prices are very fair and I’d come back just to see Ifigeneia and Maria. Came here for a coffee, very nice indeed Came with a delightful free snippet of custard tart and a great view. Also tried their 'cheese pie of Amorgos'....just when you think you must have tried every kind going, along comes a new one, shaped a bit like a Cornish pasty, about 6 inches long, served warm, light as a feather and came with a tiny wee scimitar to cut it into dainty bite size morsels. It also comes drizzled with warm honey which may sound like an odd combination but here its quite normal and actually very scrummy. We stumbled upon The Locals by chance during a late afternoon walk and ended up having one of the most memorable meals of our trip. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was simply outstanding—rich, flavorful, and made with obvious care. Their take on traditional Greek recipes had just enough creativity to feel special while still being comforting and familiar. I especially loved the grilled vegetables and the homemade dips.
