While in Naxos we were walking down the street when we came across The Locals restaurant. A lovely hostess named Ifigeneia greeted us with a warm smile and some welcoming banter. We hadn’t intended to go to this restaurant but Ifigeneia was very convincing and we felt good about supporting this local business. Maria was our waitress and we were again pleasantly greeted by her. She was able to tell us about the specialty cocktails here - I had the Crocus Pocus and my friend had some Ouzo. Also tried their 'cheese pie of Amorgos'....just when you think you must have tried every kind going, along comes a new one, shaped a bit like a Cornish pasty, about 6 inches long, served warm, light as a feather and came with a tiny wee scimitar to cut it into dainty bite size morsels. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was simply outstanding—rich, flavorful, and made with obvious care.
