Nisos — Restaurant in Municipality of Palaio Faliro

Location is great, food was also ok. We have ordered starters as grilled sardines and fish roe. Not a very happy choice, especially the fish roe, they are full of lemon juice, you can bearly taste the fish flavor. As main course the fisherman pasta. Quite ok, each serve has exactly 4 pieces of shrimps, 4 of mussels and 5 of calamari. As counted. However, there is a lot of pasta received and no seafood left to eat it…

With respect to the serving: we have went to this restaurant on a week day, in the evening, the place was quite empty. We have kindly ask the waiter if we can seat at the table with the direct view of the harbour, by also celebrating my bday. He declined rudely and said that everything was booked. We received a small table, where the dishes and our glasses cannot fit. It is obvious that they are blocking these tables for the clients with potential :) disappointing policy. Sounds like a money oriented business.

In the end, we had an expensive check, but no consideration was given. What it is worth mentioning is that right close to us there was a group of 4 Americans, with “potential” for the waiter. He only took care of that table, constantly checking if everything is ok/require smth else. For us, by sitting there for 2 hours, no consideration was given, although the restaurant was quite empty. I came with my mother as my last stop as I always do before I go back to Abu Dhabi! I called to book a table and asked to sit by the sea , the lady on the phone told me that the tables were reserved. She told me that I will get the table right next to the table that is next to the sea ! My reservation was at 7 pm I arrived at 6:45 at that time outside was only one table that was occupied. I got the third table in the row the one that the people that pass by can literally stare in your plates .(I was told that I will get the second row table !) For food we ordered the fried calamari that is always good the ceviche that was excellent the tirokafteri salad that is absolutely magnificent fries that looked like they were fished from the bottom of the pan and a grilled octopus that was inedible as it resembled in consistency the sole of an athletic shoe ! The big disappointment is that they always offered a plate with something sweet on the house however it didn't happen this time ! We left at 8 45 pm and the reserved tables in the area that we sat were still all free ! The waiters are nice the atmosphere beautiful the view breathtaking however I will not be visiting again ! Awesome food and an awesome area of Athens. You must come and explore here! Had fresh fish, which is expensive, but worth it and especially given the special location. You can go inside and chose the fish for your table, so fresh and so clean inside. The waiters couldn’t have worked harder, very attentive, spoke good English and always smiled. Sadly the only exception was what, we can only presume, was the owner(s). They hover around a table at the entrance with no branded shirt / badge / logo (so they just look like guests) and the lady who was in charge of seating people was great at giving the impression we were inconveniencing her for asking for a table. Whilst the waiters ran around (literally) - she hovered unenthusiastically between tables, browsing her phone that hung on a lanyard from her neck, seating people at tables that had used plates on (as happened to people sitting on a table next to us, our used starter plates and bread were on their table). Management should inspire staff and guests, when it’s busy - help out! It was an odd thing to watch.
