This square hosts multiple festivals and numerous concerts/events each year. I've attended several concerts here, and unfortunately, I find the area to be a poor concert venue. It's always very crowded, and the food/drink stands and toilets are highly inadequate. The concerts get overcrowded, and the space is insufficient. If you're at the back, you can't see anything because there's no elevated area. If you're in the front, you can't leave your spot for hours because once you leave to go to the restroom, it's impossible to return to your friends in the same place.
It's clear that the square isn't designed for events; it's just an ordinary square. It needs to be organized for events, and the municipality should add special public transportation services for summer events. After concerts, many people can't go home for hours, and those who can often end up paying significantly more than the taxi meter fare. In short, I would say it's a problematic concert venue in every sense. The only positive aspect is its proximity to the sea, which provides a...
Read moreGreat artists but unfortunately a terrible venue for large crowds. We went to see Florence and the Machine at the ejekt festival. Firstly most of the crowd couldn't get a clear view of the stage given its narrow layout, so a lot of people just staring at screens or squinting at a dot in the distance on stage. Sound quality was solid to be fair but view-ability was poor, location had a lot of potential but in my opinion doesn't work for a large crows. Access in and out was also not great. Parking was brutal! Simply the venue space was not equipped for audiences of this size. On leaving oddly large crowds has to pass narrow walk ways which felt pretty ominous, wrong crowd on the wrong night it could be quite dangerous. The bit that frustrated me most was token system...you had to queue to buy separate tokens for each item (water, hotdog, rum, beer), then you had to join individuals queues to get water, to then get the hotdog, to then get a rum or another queue for a beer...Luckily the artists were fantastic and the...
Read moreThere are two main ways to reach this place by foot, either from Stavros Niarchos or from the Floisvos pier. Coming from Stavros Niarchos foundation and heading south is a bridge that connects the square to STNF. The walk there is the closest thing to a European walk Athens can offer. The place is wide, there is space to walk, bike and you can also bring your dog if you have one. There is not a whole lot of green but the sea view along with the walk on the pier compensates for this. If in the summer bring a hat, sunglasses and water. You are going to need them. During winter times it's dark and chill. I believe the place is safe. I haven't noticed anything weird all my years going there. For skate, rollers and bikes or even outdoor activities, this is a perfect place to go. Last but not least this place closes down when there is a music festival going on in the area. Release festival...
