DA LUCA — Restaurant in Municipality of Piraeus

So there I was, overseas for my first time with my wife, frantically navigating to try and take in the Athens sights and traversing the busy public transportation system on our way to our honeymoon cruise departure. When, all of a sudden, we came upon the Italian cafe & restaurant Da Luca, and found a safe haven on our tumultuous journey. There, we were able to seek the refuge of conditioned air, WiFi, delicious food, and rejuvenating freddo espressos. We left with our spirits lifted, our stomachs satisfied, our friends and family back home updated that we made it safely, and our legs ready to continue on the final part of our journey's beginning.

Upon return from the cruise, we were welcomed by the thought of more delicious freddo espresso and WiFi whose speed wasn't severely limited by a paywall (thanks to the cruise). We returned to our safe haven, Da Luca, and rested up for our long journey home to the States.

Nella mia esplorazione del Pireo, questo locale è uno dei primi ad avermi intrigato, la facciata e la struttura dell'entrata sono particolari e accattivanti. La vetrina è una piacevole tentazione, anche se da Celiaco tale rimane, quello che però mi ha sorpreso è il caffè non completamente italiano, ma incredibilmente simile per gli standard della Grecia. Ci hanno inoltre spiegato come una volta avessero provato con quello italiano, ma non avesse riscosso troppo successo per gusti differenti. La parte che mi è piaciuta di più è l' ambiente interno, semplice, ma pulito e accogliente, sembra quasi di entrare in un angolino d'Italia dimenticati li davanti al porto.

In my exploration of Piraeus, this place is one of the first ones that intrigued me, the facade and the structure of the entrance are particular and captivating. The shop window is a pleasant temptation, even if it remains so as a Celiac, but what surprised me is the coffee, which is not completely Italian, but incredibly similar by Greek standards. They also explained to us how they had once tried with the Italian one, but it wasn't too successful for different tastes.
