Agioklima Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

Was walking by this restaurant when George one of the family members was standing outside, late evening. Like a saint he said you are welcome at anytime. Day after something just told us in our 8 person group to try it out, we went to the restaurant late around 2300. George saw us and got happy, the staff organized a table. Service, staff and most important the food was a gift from heaven. Even the kids loved the food. We stayed as the last table. Coming such late and getting amazing hospitality and food can just say wow. What was charming our waitress called for his mother in kitchen, and the mother was cooking the food.

Day after we decided to visit the restaurant once again but earlier around 1900. When we came the entire staff was so happy and warmly welcoming us. Food that was ordered anything from tzatziki to beef fillet, lamb kleftiko, shrimp souvlaki and kids food was delicious.

For dinner at 20:00 Tuesday, My wife and I ordered a mixed fish for 2 persons, a Creten salad and bottle of water. The water and the salad was fine, we should have stopped there…

We had to wait for like 55 minutes to receive the mixed fish , but that waiting time was the least to comment..

Regarding the quality of the mixed fish, the mussels were cold, the calamari and the octopus were very chewy, practically did not even eat half them, one fish was kinda okay the other one had reddish something in the middle inside and had a bit of weird taste..

Just to compare, We have ordered mixed fish at several other tavernas and restaurants in Crete during our two weeks vacation, but this was the worst! We were very disappointed especially because of the lots of positive reviews.. 70 (!) euros were pretty much wasted for nothing and we arrived home hungry…

Overall, no thanks , not...

A genuine family owned and run restaurant. So insanely worth the hike 300m up the mountain in order to find this precious gem.

The staff is friendly, and inviting without an ounce of pushiness.

The food itself is very moderately priced and the three times we were here, we landed shy of €15 / person and got tremendous food and service.

I can nothing but whole heartily recommend Agioklima to anyone, and the five minutes hike uphills is insanely worth it.

Edit: Came here two times more on our trip and we kept getting blown away by the food and the staff. They gave us the warmest goodbye when we left for the plane and we had our last dinner here. I can nothing but wholeheartedly recommend Agioklima to anyone. Pure satisfaction to eat here. Nothing is impossible and they are so kind...
