Edited: 2. visit was not nearly as good experience as the first, so taking my review down a point on food, service, atmosphere and overall. Restaurant was clearly understaffed when it was busy, the staff did their best by running around, but taking orders took time, food took time, rice was burned for one of us, and we had to give up on extra drinks before meal was done. Not nearly as nice seating below as on top - where you probably have to reserve at peak times. Still a good place, but probably a better option when not so busy. 1st visit: Great service, good selection of food, OK prices, very good quality with a bit of different angles to all the traditional greek menus, great selection of beers. I had an amazing experience at Oscar's Restaurant in Platanias! I went there at the beginning of my trip and kept going back for lunch, dinner, cocktails, and ouzo. The food was delicious, especially the moussaka and seafood.

It's a decent restaurant. The bouncer lady is friendly and polite. Climb upstairs and you are detached from the main road. It's quite peaceful place to spend the evening. Take your time. Service is friendly and pace is as it used to be when popping to Oscar 25 years ago. Menu is standard Cretan. You can find the traditionals and bbq on it. Tasty dishes and reasonable portions.
