We had the absolute pleasure of dining at this wonderful seaside restaurant, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the incredibly hospitable Alexandra who instantly made us feel at home. It’s hard to find a place where the service, food, and atmosphere come together so perfectly, but this restaurant exceeded all our expectations.

The menu offers a delightful local traditional dishes and seafood, each prepared with a level of care and flavor that truly showcases the best of Cretan cuisine. Every dish we tried was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The consistency of quality was so impressive that we found ourselves returning 3 times during our stay—each visit was as delightful as the last.

What really sets this place apart is the warm, personal touch in everything they do. The homemade desserts, served with ice cream and raki, were the perfect sweet ending to our meals. The fact that this restaurant is located right on the beach, with stunning views and a relaxing Mediterranean atmosphere, only adds to the charm.

In all our visits, there was never a single compromise in quality or service. If you're looking for an authentic dining experience where you'll be treated like family while enjoying some of the best local and sea cuisine, this is the place to go. After reading lots of positive reviews about this place and getting it recommended from friends at home we wanted to try Sonio ourselves. The location at the beach and the atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderful and especially with the sunset in the background. The food was also great and nothing to say about any of the dishes. We ate calimaris, spareribs, gyros, chicken salad and pasta. Unfortunately the service tonight did not deliver as expected. After waiting 25 minutes from we were seated I had to stop a waiter and suggest that we might start with something to drink. Then it went smooth until we were finished eating and another 35 minutes was spent on waiting until we stopped another waiter and told them we were finished and would just like to pay and not even see the dessert menu. Then our waitress came over and apologized and gave us a complementary dessert and some raki.

Maybe we just were unlucky and they had a lot to do this evening or was understaffed. I choose to believe so and this is also why they receive four stars. The food and atmosphere was worth the extra wait, and if I had the time, I would give them a second chance to make...

If you like really good food, excellent service and a wonderful seaside atmosphere, this is a place you should visit. We were asked to wait 15-20 minutes and as we felt no need to rush, we sat down and waited. The wait was less than that and we were served a delicious mini-cocktail as we were waiting. We were served with a smile and the menu was intriguing from the start with a variety of Greek and Mediterranean quisine. I chose the Sea bass with potato wedges and a sauce with spinach and dill. My better half chose the Soutzoukakia (Greek meet balls with a tomato sauce with garlic and cumin). Both was delicious. The Sea bass was cooked to perfection and the sauce was perfectly matched. The meat balls was also cooked with the utmost care and attention and the tomato sauce was a good competition with any of the Italian sauces I have tried.
