Quite disappointed with this restaurant after our dinner yesterday. Reasons - found selective treatment from the staff per table, I don’t know the reason, but ‘you can be better than this’. Food was okay-ish and we missed the authentic Cretan flavour to be honest. Normally, we trust the staff and most of the times we enquire if we ordered too much, usually the response would be - ‘Yeah, this is fine, I think you can handle it’ OR ‘Yeah, let’s skip the last item you ordered & if you feel like we make it’, but, to our surprise the waiter said - ‘Too much?!, I think this is too less’ - that wasn’t true & being a foodie myself it hurt when I realised it was too much and the food will be wasted (yes we packed the remaining and will try our best not to throw it away!). This could be a good point for many who consider quantity over quality, I admit the quantity was really good if you compare the price. The staffs are trying hard to be hospitable with many hugging/kissing and making the guests feel good, but I consider spending more effort on the quality of the food & equal treatment to each tables would help you more.
Based on the experience I will not recommend the place overall for a nice authentic Cretan experience. Kosmas & Drosia taverna are way better. Apart from quantity, the parking space was plenty and my 2...
Read moreWhat a lovely experience! My mother and I visited Therino Restaurant in the middle of October, when the summer season period is coming to an end. Surprisingly, the restaurant was crowded and we were lucky to be fit in there by a welcoming waiter. We had plenty of choices as for the food menu. Although, we were sceptical about the we ended up being super pleased both with meat and seafood dishes ! The atmosphere got even better when a waiter started treating us with some Raki shots that made the boundaries, between strangers sitting in tables next to each other, disappear. The thing that I would like to highlight though is that each serving of food had the dish completely full, not focusing on the decoration as on the amount of food itself ! Not to mention that the prices were more than reasonable for what we ended up eating! Another advantage to note is that even on rainy days, this outdoor area kept us protected and warm ! It would be a bonus if the music in the background had another genre plus the the list of the wine being served on single glass containing more options. At the end of the night though, these did not really made a significant impact on our beautiful time there...
Read moreAtmosphere This amazing gem of a restaurant has the best vibe so far in Souda. We loved the friendliness and warmth, the genuine atmosphere we encountered. The place was lively but not loud. It was a good mix of locals (possibly family friends) and tourists who seemed to kept coming to Therino. Food I ordered the langoustines (grilled shrimps), grilled vegetables and aubergine salad. The food was non-pretentious, delicious and on-point. My husband ordered the rib stake. He mentioned it was a bit fatty for his taste, delicious nonetheless. We had a kids’ portion of bolognese for our child and she loved it all. Staff All the staff were fun, smiling and checked on how we are doing. We also loved that they had some shots with us :). Conclusion I would definitely come here again for the food, vibe,...
