Felt like a pretty authentic Taverna experience to this tourist. It was family-run in the most literal sense, the husband cooked, the wife was hostess / waitress and they had one other guy (their son?) helping in the kitchen. This seemed to be the highest-rated restaurant on Poros and it was only open for dinner so I really wanted to check it out. I arrived at 8pm on a Thursday and was told they were completely full. I was a little miffed at first, they seemed to have plenty of open tables and I was solo; the lady didn’t actually seem interested in my business, I had to ask if it was possible to wait for a table (yes but at 9pm). When I came back though I understood - the place by then was full and it was being run by literally three people, that can’t be easy. Their specialty is snails but I stuck with a greek salad and plate of meatballs in tomato sauce. I wanted to try another small dish but the husband was nice enough to make clear that would be too much food for one person. Had a delicious glass of rose wine as well. It is in an alley so you Don get a view of the sea like many other places but the ambiance was still nice. I’d suggest making a reservation or showing up early...
Read moreHorrible food made from the cheapest ingredients in a great location. The "Rustic Sausage" is a very cheap pork sausage, probably from the nearby supermarket. In Rustic i guess they mean grilled to a crisp just like at home if you grew up in an orphanage.. The meatballs were dry, so dry they must have used real sand in their recipe.. The lamb souvlaky was probably a lamb back when the restaurant opened and so was the last time that the oil was changed in the frier.. The chicken souvlaky was edible. The grilled cheese was Ok. The squares of filo filled with cheese tasted like margerine, probably because they were also store bought... The french fries, made here!, the cook proclaimed proudly, were thin and dry and oily just like in the orphanage i guess.. The beetroot with garlic sauce is a joke, untasty joke at our expense.. People keep mentioning the cat in their reviews here but the cat is a stray and the owner told us not to pet him.. The owner was complaining about our children being loud but 10 minutes later a drunken lady came in screaming and not long after people were shouting all around us.. We finished our meal hungry and upset. So many great tavernas in Poros! This is not...
Read moreLiked the look of this place. Doesn’t open until 7pm but saw a lady I now know as Maria coming out of the restaurant at about mid day. She kindly took my booking and remembered me on arrival at 8pm.😁🇬🇷👏 This turned out to be a very busy restaurant with lots he staff working their socks off 🤣 We ordered Greek salad and mixed dips to start. These came with some really fresh 🍞 😁🇬🇷 Had some local wine in carafes which was good. Red better than Rose.🍷🍷 Kleftico for our main. Very tasty lamb shank which could have been cooked slower to make it fall off the bone. Enjoyed the meal and the restaurant very much. Admired the hard work that the staff are obviously putting in. No room for a pudding. Toilets good. Location of restaurant away from the main sea front is a real plus 😁🇬🇷 Clearly lots of returning customers 😁 Absolutely worth a visit here 😁🇬🇷🏴 Very good value...
