Deeply Disappointed

On our second day in Poros, we decided to try this taverna after hearing recommendations and seeing plenty of positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite of what we expected.

The place wasn’t even busy — only about four tables were occupied — so service should have been straightforward. We ordered several dishes, and in one of them, the calamari, we found a short curly hair tucked underneath the pieces.

When we pointed it out, the manager (or owner) came over, casually pulled the hair out with his fingers, left the plate on the table as if we were supposed to keep eating, and insisted it couldn’t have come from the kitchen — “maybe from the wind,” he said. Keep in mind, the hair was buried under the calamari.

A few minutes later, he returned, joking that he had “done a DNA test” and confirmed it didn’t belong to any staff member. We, two women with long hair, just stared at him in disbelief. He walked off again, only to come back much later to ask if we wanted another portion.

By that point, our appetite was gone — and frankly, so was our patience. We asked for the bill, and not only were the calamari still charged, but they even had the audacity to ask if everything had been alright.

Honestly, apart from the nice view, this place is a firm no from me. Poros has countless far better options — don’t waste...

I highly recommend White Cat 1909 Restaurant for a memorable dinner experience, particularly during sunset. Located next to the water, this restaurant offers a picturesque setting that adds to the overall ambiance. Having recently visited for the second time after a two-year gap, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our dining experience.

Not the best looking Greek restaurant but it is in the right spot. Great views of Poros😁🇬🇷 One very large table of 40 dominated one serving de of the restaurant but they were not too noisy and their presence did not affect the service at all. We had a table right by our he sea😁 Nice welcome having booked a table. Drank the local half litre carafe of wine so cheap we had two 😁🍷 Very good service by nice friendly people. Zucchini and cheese balls😁 Greek salad😁 Fried Calamari and fried anchovy 😁 Fish particularly good. Restaurant filled up the later it got. But it was never too much for the staff😁🇬🇷 Our first meal in Poros for many many years and off to a flyer. Worth the walk there and back😁 Toilets also good. Easy access for wheelchairs 😁 Paid by credit card. Complimentary drink or small desert at the end which was a nice touch 😁👏 Would come here again so recommended...
