KAI Seaside Flavours — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

This restaurant ticks all our boxes:

Food and wine...we enjoyed top class aged Angus steak cooked to (medium) perfection, with a minimal, tasty, complimenting sauce. (They must have brilliant chefs behind the scenes...the hidden heroes). The quality of the meat was outstanding, as tender as fillet. We paired it with the Cretan GSM Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre...smooth dark berry fruits with a touch of Greek 'garigue', which was recommended by Mironas, the young but we'll informed wine sommelier. Decor and Ambience: The mix of easy on the eye colours, potted palms and comfy seats with cushions carefully separated, created a relaxed and very up market ambiance that would grace the harbour of St Tropez. This place has a relaxed, expensive feel. Staff: As good as it gets. Their uniforms are super smart and they could have easily stepped off the Orient Express: Konstantina warmly greeted us, patiently helped us find seats to suit us and made us feel special: Thanks to our waiter Thanos who exuded interest, passion and enthusiasm for the food alternatives. All the other staff were equally good but we didn't get their names...next time. The owner: He's only young, but he's got everything right...this restaurant is going...

A Hidden Gem in Rethymno

Kai is a little hidden gem tucked away on the seafront of Rethymno. It first caught our attention thanks to its beautiful aesthetic, which immediately drew in my daughter. Once she spotted the sushi menu, we couldn’t resist stepping inside to explore further.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly — they truly made us feel at home, especially our bougie 11-year-old daughter, who was thoroughly charmed by the whole experience. The food? Absolutely spectacular — easily an 11 out of 10.

As a lovely touch, we were treated to a complimentary, mouthwatering mousse for dessert. They also whipped up a virgin strawberry mojito for my daughter, which she declared the best she’s ever had! The wine expert on hand clearly knew his stuff — his recommendation was spot-on and thoroughly enjoyed.

Kai delivers first-class service and exceptional food, all at very reasonable prices. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience...

The food was the best meal myself and my partner have eaten in forever we think. Beautiful venue with fantastic atmosphere and background music. Staff were so so friendly, yet the service was a small bit slow despite not being overly busy. This did not affect my overall experience as being human I can understand not everyday is possible to be 100% and more and they still remained extremely professional and friendly which is important to me. I want to exclaim that the food was 10/10. They cater to allergens and make sure dishes are safe and clean for any allergy holders like myself.

The place is spotless down to the bathrooms, I gave them my personal feedback on the speed of attention but I feel with the observations they made and the way they conducted themselves they will continue to grow and improve.

I CAN NOT RECOMMEND Kai ENOUGH.
