Summary, amazing food, a good 2 km walk from Ixia, beautiful location and terrible service. If I had the behavioral of the maître d in my staff, she’d be fired the same day!
Our story with this restaurant starts 5 years ago, the summer before the world shut down. Not sure when the restaurant opened, but we had the pleasure to meet a humble man, who seemed to be a globetrotter , and he presented himself as the owner. Atmosphere was electric, Korean BBQ and the sushi was top notch. Waiters were observant, polite and effective. You could see they were trained to “sweep the area” to seek the customers attention.
I placed a review on this restaurant about a week ago, and today it was rock bottom. Firstly, the Sushi is amazing. The sushi rolls have a high level of taste and well balanced. Some rolls are a bit too big for my taste, and could be “tighter rolled”. Kudos to the chef(s)
And now comes the bad review. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m far off high maintenance, but I travel around 150 days a year in my line of work, so I’ve seen a few restaurants in my life. We tried to book a table, please see attached log file picture ,we finally got reservation, 2 days after our request. And we specifically request where not to be seated. Arrived the restaurant punctual as per the reservation, and guess what? We were seated at the one tables we didn’t want to sit. The blonde dyed lady who I guess is the maître d, was extremely condescending when I showed the reservation and said “there is nothing I can do” and walked away shaking her head like I had done something wrong. The restaurant had 4 guests on our arrival. After a bit back and forth, we were seated at another table. From that point, she even made it worse. It’s a shame, because our son and his girlfriend joined us for this experience. Our son has worked as a certified waiter at a Michelin star restaurant. We wanted to show him the experience we once had with Nami. We felt the maître d did what she could for us not to have an even worse experience and the waiters never checked in at our table. when we god their attention, they smiled and was polite. But never did they come and ask if we needed anything else or if they could do...

As a restaurant manager myself, I am continually on the lookout for exceptional dining experiences, and I can confidently say that I have discovered a hidden gem in Rhodes.
The quality of the food at this restaurant is unparalleled. Having traveled extensively and dined at numerous places, including michelin star restaurants, I can confidently say that this place sets a new standard. The tataki salmon and wagyu beef were absolute delights, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is its authenticity, and it felt like a genuine culinary journey. It is evident that the chefs hold a deep respect for the cuisines they represent. This commitment to authenticity is truly commendable and makes dining here an immersive experience. After a chat with the owner, I found out why: the vast amount of training the staff continuously receives is rare in the industry, and it shows.
The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had and offered valuable recommendations. Theodoros, the owner, takes so much care in ensuring that every customer is well looked after and can enjoy an amazing experience at his restaurant.
The ambiance was inviting, the attention to detail was evident in every corner, and the passion for creating memorable dining experiences shone through. Thanks to Theodoros and his team.

Read moreThere are things which go together well, like sausage and mustard or wine and cheese and there are things which don’t go together well like Korean style BBQ and fish; @ the owner of the restaurant: if you cook the fish and shrimps at the table yourself you should at least have some idea how long to cook the fish ( and we did not really get an expert opinion on this from your waitress)…, because unlike meat you can overcook fish and clams very easily (I should indicate that I consider myself an above average cook so I basically know how to barbecue fish) however if you have a new barbecue and this is the case here you have to test how long to cook the fish and else ; only up in request I got some very vague time frames for cooking; specifics: the sea bass skin could not be released from the grid ..l, a frequent problem with barbecuing fish…, the octopus tasted like rubber independent if you cooked it for 1 or 5 min…the only halfway acceptable items were the clams; all in all I did not find the quality of the fish and other items very high which is surprising considering you are a Sushi restaurant …; minor things: you serve salt and two barbecue sauces for the fish, ok for the meat BBQ which is also on the menu, but completely unfitting for fish because all you will taste are the sauces…. So would I go back to the restaurant another time for another meal: probably, because then sea bass ceviche which we also had was quite good and also the sushi , although a) they did not serve the one we ordered and b) 17.-€ for 8 pieces of sushi is a bit overpriced….in my opinion; for all other guests : you might want to stick to meat BBQ and sushi - then you will be on...
