We went to Faros thinking that the main beach was organized, only to find out that they only had a maximum of 10 bean-bags-type-of-sun-beds which were all reserved! The “sun-beds” belonged to the restaurant next to Pelicanos whose staff seemed very pretentious and with an attitude. Thankfully, we noticed PELICANOS and its tables right on the waterfront! The waiters (especially one French lady) were friendly and welcoming. It had been such an amazing treat! We spent around 5 hours there, having coffees, cocktails and lunch, making a dive, drying up, swimming again. It was divine! The food exceeded our expectations. The fresh fish was cooked to perfection, so were the appetizers (Greek salad, gyoza spinach pie, fish ceviche) and desserts (pavlova, orange pie). The scenery was astonishing and the atmosphere relaxing and chill. What more could one wish for?

I was really hoping for something really special, maybe we ordered the wrong food as it really was not great Cocktails were good, cheese churros were good, crab pasta unfortunately tasted like the chef spilt the pepper pot as that’s all you could taste, we like spicy food but the pepper completely overpowered any other flavour, short rib was edible, chicken on charcoal was also ok but not the best Setting is lovely how ever we were asked to leave with no warning as apparently table was booked, I booked a few weeks prior and was not given any notification of this We played a fun game of cards with our kids and were scolded by the hostess after about 30 mins as it’s not really the done thing in Greece (no mention of gambling laws etc- just not appropriate) so off we went at 9.45pm, having spent a good amount but feeling disappointed

We arrived a bit too early for lunch (which starts at 13:00) however they were very accommodating and we were allowed to sit, enjoy the view and look at the menus until lunch time. We were hoping to have the sardines and the spinach pie however (being Monday) there wasn’t any today, but now I’m so glad there wasn’t instead having the fluffy hummus and the bread (Betty’s bread) from next door (also worth visiting). We also had the Roasted salad which was to DIE FOR and I will be recreating at home, finally the fish of the day with the pasta was incredible and even had the lady across from us ask the waiter what we were eating and then requesting this. All in all highly worth a visit and is a must for both Sifnos but also the other islands. With the friendly servers, relaxed beach atmosphere and delicious food.

The location is stunning. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Almost everything we ate was very good. Do not get the chocolate tart. You are setting yourself up for heartache. It’s rubbish (lacking in flavor, texture and any kind of indulgence), it’s way more expensive than the orange cake, it’s 1/4 the size of the orange cake and the orange cake is amazing. The grilled cheese was very nice, but could do with some of the sauce that comes with the churros as a dipping option.

The place is very spendy. London prices in Greece is kind of wild. But the pork was cooked to perfection. The churros were a show stopper and the gyoza was an interesting and cool take on classic Greek cuisine.

All that being said, it was odd that every table around us was given some kind of clear mystery drink in a stemmed glass upon paying their bills, but we were not afforded...

Dear George, Markos, and the wonderful team at Pelecanos,

We would like to extend our deepest thanks for the exceptional hospitality and culinary experience you provided during the recent baptism celebration at your restaurant.

From the very first dish to the final farewell, everything was handled with such care, elegance, and warmth. The food—rooted in the traditions of Sifnos yet prepared with modern mastery—was simply unforgettable. Each plate reflected not only exceptional technique but true emotion and respect for your ingredients.

Coupled with the serene beachfront setting and your team’s seamless, attentive service, the entire experience left us feeling both fulfilled and deeply moved.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for creating such a meaningful and memorable day. We truly hope to return very soon.

Helena -...
