I recently dined at Spiro’s, and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. My expectations were high given the restaurant’s reputation, but the quality of the food left much to be desired.
Let me start with the pizza. When it arrived at the table, I immediately noticed something off. The crust had that telltale hard, dry texture that made it clear it wasn’t freshly made. After one bite, it was obvious—the pizza had been frozen. The cheese was rubbery, the sauce lacked flavor, and the overall taste felt like something you’d expect from a cheap frozen meal at a grocery store, not from a restaurant. For a place like Spiro’s, which claims to have authentic Italian-inspired dishes, this was incredibly disappointing. If I wanted frozen pizza, I would have stayed home.
Next came the salmon. I had requested it cooked to medium, expecting a nice, tender filet with that beautiful pink center, as you’d normally get with a properly cooked salmon dish. However, what I received was a dry, overcooked piece of fish that had lost all its moisture and color. The salmon wasn’t pink at all, instead it was a dull grayish brown and tough to cut through. Overcooked salmon loses its flavor and any trace of succulence, and that’s exactly what happened here. I was left with something closer to a rubbery mess than a piece of seafood. (one of the staff even touched the piece of fish on the playe and said “this is salmon not swordfish”)
Finally, the most egregious offense of the evening was the so-called T-bone steak. I’ve had T-bone steaks many times before, and the cut is always distinct with its characteristic “T” shaped bone separating the strip steak from the tenderloin. But when my dish arrived, I was confused. What I received wasn’t a T-bone steak at all. There was no recognizable bone, and the cut itself seemed more like a standard and normal beef steak, both in texture and flavor, and the steak itself was way over cooked—charred on the outside and overcooked in the center, as i asked for medium making it tough and chewy in places. Misrepresentation of a classic steak cut was, frankly, unacceptable.
Overall, Spiro’s failed on every front. The pizza was frozen, the salmon was overcooked and dry, and the T-bone steak wasn’t even a T-bone steak. I left feeling frustrated and regretful that I had wasted my time and money. I won’t be returning anytime soon, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend Spiro’s to anyone looking for a quality meal.

Read moreThe worst experience on vacation. We ordered pita with chicken and pita on a plate and a glass of local cider and cocacola. Both dishes were tasteless, the meat was soggy, fried, hard, dried. The experience was somewhat saved by the view from the cafe. The worst thing is that when paying the bill, the waiter was not able to calculate it accurately and even rounded up and increased the bill by +/- 6 €. When paying € 18 it turned out weird why such an amount, but I thought I might not remember the exact prices. Unfortunately, we were deceived. I do not recommend! There are much better places to eat in...
Read moreWe went here specifically for Gyros and we were not disappointed, the meat was cooked beautifully and mas moist and tender, the Tzaziki sauce was delicious and the salad was fresh. The chips were slightly undercooked for my taste but there was nothing wrong with them. 2 Gyros, plate of chips and 2 small Mythos beers €22. We went in at about 7pm and the place was not busy, though customers started to arrive while we were there, the owner was setting up some music though we left in search of a bar before he had finished. It is a family run business which is very friendly and welcoming. We will...
