**STAY WELL AWAY** this was one of the worst hotels that I have ever stepped foot in. Me and partner wanted to experience Corfu for what it had to offer and by the looks of the pictures ‘golden sands’ could accommodate that, how wrong we was! Let me start by saying the pictures you see on their website that represent them as a hotel are massively misleading, you’re NOWHERE near the beach and have to walk at-least 25-30 minutes to get to one, so don’t book this if you think you’re just going to be stepping outside on to the beach because you’re be met with a cliff edge and a derelict building. On arrival everything seems okay but immediately we was met with a €35 tax fee that we was not told about anywhere, have never had to pay this anywhere else… after paying this and sorting out where our room was we entered the room and was greeted by what can only be described as human waste smell, this was so heavy in our room and was for the whole of the stay, to the point where it has made me physically ill. The bathroom felt like it had been neglected and not taken care of for years prior this stay. Broken tiles, leaky radiators, dirty ceilings, the shower had no bracket in the wall to hold the shower head, the drains were one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever laid my eyes on along with the dirty curtains. Absolutely terrible. The beds felt like I was sleeping on rocks, but I dare say rocks would have been more comfortable! The outside balcony bit again, neglected and dirty. Putting the room aside, when going for food me and my partner could somedays not stomach what they had to offer.. I can’t describe how dissatisfied I was with the variety that was on offer. It felt like some of the meat was just not cooked straight through so I’d be wary when eating this, the flies all over the place which seem to have more of good time with the food are everywhere. The service from the staff in the kitchen was not bad, they seemed nice enough. There is absolutely nothing ‘golden’ about this hotel and I will never be coming back here, the standard is absolutely abysmal and if you’re reading this review I would advise you find somewhere else to spend your money.

My Stay at Golden Sands in Corfu – Mixed Feelings, Mostly Disappointment I spent a few days at Golden Sands Hotel on the charming island of Corfu, but unfortunately – despite the beautiful location – the trip didn’t quite meet my expectations. Let’s start with one of the biggest surprises: the hotel is not located near the beach. It takes at least a 20-minute walk to reach the sea, which might be a big downside for those expecting quick and easy access to the water and a sandy beach right by the hotel. When it comes to food, that was honestly the biggest letdown. It wasn’t typically Greek, and it didn’t feel fresh at all. I had stomach issues after breakfast every day, which has never happened to me before on any trip. The selection was repetitive, and the overall quality left much to be desired. That’s definitely something the hotel should improve immediately. The pool bar was also disappointing – poorly stocked, with very limited drink options. And the frappé coffee, which should be a Greek classic, was made so badly it was practically undrinkable. On the positive side, the pool and green surroundings were nice – a peaceful spot to relax for a bit. The rooms were clean, though very basic, and the staff was generally friendly, though a bit disorganized at times. To sum up: Golden Sands might work for travelers on a tight budget who don’t expect much. But if you’re looking for good food, decent coffee, beach access, and a higher standard – you’re better off looking elsewhere. Personally, I wouldn’t stay there again, although I do highly recommend the island of Corfu itself – it’s beautiful and worth visiting.

The main bad thing was the food. You can't really live a week on greek salads, because everything else in diner has a weird aftertaste. The rooms were missing an airer for wet swims suits and towels when you come from the beach. When I tried dry them on balcony it flew on the roof right under our room and an old man has to come for them with a ladder. Beaches are also pretty far from the hotel. Stuff is lovely and helpfull, I can't say anything bad about them, except one bartender who had comments when we asked for ice in our drinks. Overall I probably wouldn't come here again.

Just returned from Golden Sands after a 9 night/10 day stay and I'm already missing the people and place.|To be honest after reading the reviews on here I wasn't expecting to have a good holiday and was expecting the worst, however upon arrival it soon became apparent that people reviewing must have been expecting 5* accommodation for 3* money.|Our experience was brilliant from the outset, greeted by a lovely friendly lady on reception and given clear directions to our room on the south east side of the first floor with our view being the surrounding area and coast, perfect for sun and moon rises.|The room was a good size, clean and comfortable although the furniture was a little dated but still perfectly serviceable.|The ensuite shower room was again clean and useable despite being somewhat compact. Plenty of room for our toiletries towels etc...|The room was cleaned daily and we were given fresh towels and bedding daily too.||Bar.|The poolside bar was run by Peter and George who were both absolutely fantastic, chatty, friendly and frequently had us in fits of laughter. Their measures were generous and plentiful. Between us myself and my wife sampled most of the drinks on offer during our stay.|The all inclusive bar runs from 10am to 10pm daily however the bar stays open until midnight but drinks are chargeable after 10pm.|Alongside the pool bar is the snack area serving pork burgers and hotdogs for if you feel peckish between meals.||Dining.|The dining room is light and airy with plenty of seating both inside and on the adjacent terrace.|Breakfast buffet.|The offerings at breakfast include standard fare such as bacon, eggs in a variety of guises, grilled tomato, baked beans, sausages, mushrooms etc as well as fruit, pastries, cereals, post mix fruit juices, a variety of coffees from a dispenser.|Lunch/Evening buffet.|These meals are a mixture of pork, chicken and fish dishes served alongside alternatives such as the ever present spaghetti with a choice of sauces, tortellini and sides of grilled/roasted vegetables, roast potatoes, fries, streamed vegetables and a variety of salads including pasta salad, potato salad and a beautiful beetroot salad.|Desserts are generally a variety of fruit and tray bake cakes.||The pool.|At first sight the pool looks small for the size of the hotel yet we never found it to be crowded during our stay and could come and go happily without any bother, it's a mildly chlorinated pool and is as clean as any pool I've ever been in, the levels are checked every morning when the pool is cleaned.|There's ample sun loungers around the pool for the number of guests.||The local area.|Within 2 minutes on foot there are 2 brilliant supermarkets offering everything you could possibly need during your stay from souvenirs to medicines, towels, clothes, cigarettes, alcohol, soft drinks, baked goods etc they have paracetamol and ibuprofen available behind the counter at Supermarket Stella next to the hotel.|Beyond the supermarkets you will find a few tavernas, eateries and bars as well as access to the beach.|If you head in the opposite direction you will come into the main tourist area packed with more taverns, shops and bars as well as the local harbour, vehicle rental and...
