This place is simply magical, to reach it we used the bus from Pedi asking the driver if he could do us a favor by stopping in front of it but I think you can also ask this coming from Gialos (the drivers who manage the service are really kind and helpful). The interior is a real secret garden, I recommend going there in the evening, you dine among the plants and the tables are surrounded by nature, there are also a lot of lights that make it very relaxing (highly recommended for a romantic dinner), two cats occasionally approach and wander around the tables (cat lovers I'm looking at you). There are two waitresses who are very attentive to the customer and quick in their service, we were served by the red-haired girl who was super nice and friendly and carefully explained the menu to us, recommending the dishes. I really appreciated the fact that each course is served in small rustic plates that make sharing very easy and recommended, the dishes are well presented and excellent, I tried the small spinach pies: crunchy and steaming; the meatballs (Keftedes) served with a taste of tzaziki sauce and the chicken with Roquefort which I wouldn't have bet anything on but which turned out to be the real deal of the evening: the chicken is very tender marinated in Roquefort but not dipped in cloying sauces and accompanied by crunchy vegetables, truly excellent. We finished with a slice of homemade apple pie and ice cream, fresh and beautifully executed. The prices are average considering that we spent €36 getting two small glass bottles of sparkling water. We will definitely come back for the magic of the place, the kindness of the waitresses and the owner (very nice, since the place has a game table with a chessboard she immediately offered us the pieces to play) and the goodness in the simplicity of the dishes. If you are in Symi pay them a visit especially on Friday nights because they have live music (Jazz and Blues) and it would be a real shame to miss the opportunity to have such an experience in such a special place. I recommend calling before going, to find out if there are tables available and book if necessary because the place is not very large and there are few seats. Update: we came in again and we had the feta with fillo and figs jam that was absolutely gorgeous, I also recommend the fried pork with sweet chili it is just so good, we'll be back for sure,...
Read moreI’m of mixed feelings for this restaurant. It has got a novel setting which is why I have 4 stars. It was a really cute place but atmosphere lacked music and vibe. The staff were friendly and I’d describe service as rustic family service cont professional but that goes with the charm of the style of the place. Menu doesn’t have much to choose from but what we did eat was good I have nothing bad to say. The ingredients were fresh dishes homemade. Definitely a place if you want Meze style eating not a taverna for what the menu has. A nice place with a different to the norm experience as far as setting. I’d rate 3.5 if it was in Rhodes as standards in Rhodes are higher than Symi. Easy to find as entrance on main road Pedi. Affordable and not overpriced like many of the places in Symi harbour. Overall a...
Read moreWe visit the infamous 'Secret Garden' restaurant. Infamous because some online sources reference it as one of the best restaurants in the world???? Ok, pretty decor in a plant covered veranda. Lots of people are smoking in there! The menu is mezze style, so not a restaurant. Music is billed to start at 9, so we order a few plates. The zucchini balls, the feta in filo with honey and figs and the lamb lemonata. They are tasty but nothing amazing. We order 2 more plates, the roquefort chicken and the feta and peppers. Both are underwhelming and we don't finish them. After 3 depressing self indulgent songs from the musicians, we...
