I'll start from the positives; this place arguably has the best view on the island. The location is beyond lovely and it's really relaxing being there, by the water and the beautiful view of the waterfront. I'm afraid however that it's all downhill from there.
Because we had an early boat to catch, I called the restaurant the day before to ask what time they would start serving brunch the next morning. They told me 10am. We really wanted to visit before leaving so we changed our plans and made sure to leave our AirBnB early with all our stuff to be there for 10am. Upon arriving, a very rude & clearly inexperienced waitress told us that the kitchen hadn't opened and she didn't know when they would open - probably at 11am - and that because the person who makes the coffees wasn't there they couldn't even get us coffee. Mind you, there were 4-5 staff in the kitchen and bar already.
We decided to sit and wait, and it took them 30mins to even get us water, even though we were the only customers there. As other customers started to arrive, they didn't bring us menus or anything, and eventually I had to go see my friend off at the port; I was back to the restaurant at 11.20am, and in those 20 minutes of serving breakfast/brunch, the kitchen had run out of... eggs. Mind you, 3 or 4 of the brunch options are egg-based, and by the time I arrived only 4-5 other tables were full. We asked for the cake of the day (which was listed on the menu), and we were told that they didn't serve it anymore. In the end, I ordered a toastie at 11.40am, which arrived at least an hour later.
I've never written a negative Google review but this place inspired me to do so; we were systematically ignored and treated rudely, with the waiting staff laughing at us and making rude comments in front of our faces without ever apologising.
Silver lining is that the whole experience was comically bad and ended up being really funny, so I recommend you go here if you want to be entertained by awful service with a...
Read moreI would love to give this restaurant 5 stars for the view, the mood and the music, HOWEVER - the food seem to be very, and I mean very, hit or miss.
By the reviews on here, as well as having thrown a sneak peak or two at the tables around us, there seems so be an irratic level of quality at this place. What we had was a surprisingly underwhelming food experience involving unfortunately bland cod donoughts (which we thought sounded intriguing enough to try) and a plate of fries with a bowl of fishy (in both senses of the word) sauce on the side. Fishy sauces can be a unique and, if lucky, has layers of flavours whipped together to a fresh "close-to-the-seas" experience - but no! Not at this place! It was, despite supposedly having multiple ingredients, one-faced and predictable. Together with a slightly soggy bowl of out-doors-temprature fries, it did not leave much to appreciate.
With that said, we did spot a few tables around us humming with delight at the food and the gorgeous view, really lounging in what seemed to be blissful oblivion to the poorer choices of food available on their, admittedly extensive, menu.
The prices, of course, define themselves by the hits rather than the misses. Which for me and my wonderful partner meant 22 euros worth of jealously glancing at other people's food.
Pro-tip: either ask what they recommend for the day (see what's fresh), or pick something from a previous reviewer's meal! And with that, I wish you a better experience...
Read moreGreat views, and excellent service with delicious food. The fish was cooked very well and had some delicious veggies on the plate. However the food was quite expensive - €9.50 for a Greek salad and €18-20 for mains is a lot more than other places on Syros. I suppose with the beautiful views, you should expect this. It had a touristy vibe - It’s not traditional Greek food, also they were out of non alcoholic beer and said they only usually have Heineken free (which was disappointing considering all the amazing local Greek brands they could choose like Fix, Eza,...
