Tucked against the rugged shoreline of Santorini’s iconic Red Beach, Asterias is the kind of place that doesn’t just serve dinner—it serves an experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm, genuine hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The staff were friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and made sure we felt at home.

We were fortunate to be seated at the table closest to the water, where the sea whispered against the shore just beyond our feet. The view was nothing short of breathtaking—crimson cliffs glowing in the twilight, the Aegean glittering under a slowly melting sun.

Now, let’s talk seafood. Every bite was a testament to freshness and skill. From the grilled octopus to the delicate sea bass, the flavors were bold yet balanced—each dish kissed with the simplicity and soul of true Greek cooking. The seafood selection was decadent without being heavy, clearly crafted with care and respect for the ingredients. A special nod to the chef: compliments are well-earned and enthusiastically given.

Fantastic restaurant, highly recommend! We stayed for two weeks and tried many restaurants from the recommendation lists (recommended by the YouTube and our host), so I can confidently say that Asterias is in our top two in Santorini. The location and atmosphere are perfect, beautiful view, close from the famous red, black and white beaches. Food is exceptional, good modern cocktails too. The staff is the sweetest and friendliest possible: they go out of their way for you. Is you are staying in Akrotiri, they would arrange a free transfer from your accommodation and back. We were returning customers and they offered us fantastic complimentary treats to try. (Appetizer and local cinnamon liquor). During our two weeks we came back to 3 restaurants, which were the best, and only Asterios offered really royal treatment, plus the food and ambience once more didn't disappoint, as it was the case with other popular restaurant nearby. If you want to escape from the touristy Caldera restaurants, gaze at the endless Aegean blue, and live the REAL GREEK traditional vibe this is the place.

We are highly recommending Asterias not just for the great food but also the fantastic people who were very helpful and welcoming! We met the owner and the Chef who were very kind and generous! All the people working there were super polite, helpful, with great recommendations around the island, and very professional!

Asterias was our ideal spot to go for a romantic dinner with fantastic cocktails, and delicious seafood. It is also a great choice for a chilled-out midday lunch with ouzo and greek mezze.

As greeks who live abroad, we truly felt like home in this lovely traditional tavern and had the best time during our honeymoon!!! We will surely be visiting again in the next couple of years!
