Cafe Akrotiri — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

I don’t often leave reviews unless I have a very good or very bad experience somewhere, but this was just bizarre. We asked if a member of our party could use the bathroom, and they said we would need to pay one €1 to be able to do so. We then asked if we could buy a glass of wine instead to be able to use the bathroom, and the woman (presumably the manager or owner) said that’s okay, so we paid €6 for the glass of wine, no problem. As we were waiting for our party member in the bathroom and the other was enjoying her glass of wine, she had mentioned that she would much rather pay for the glass of wine than the euro just to go to the bathroom. The same woman then came around the corner causing a fuss about us paying €6 for the wine instead of the €1 to use the bathroom, mentioning that across Europe you would likely have to pay to use private bathrooms. Okay? Why would it be our problem that you approved this transaction? Very unnecessarily...

As tourists, we were very disappointed in the service and atmosphere in this restaurant. Our second server (a male) seemed disinterested, ill-informed on what was available on the menu and not friendly. We should have walked out. We had 3 servers in total while we were there. The last server, another male server, was much more pleasant and is the reason why we gave it 2 stars. The food was very bland. Later on after we were waiting to catch a bus, a server from one of the cruise boats (who was also catching the bus) wanted to change her clothes to dry clothes and requested to use their bathroom to do so. The restaurant staff said no and we could see that there was not even one customer in the restaurant. Why say no to such a simple request? This is an unacceptable way to treat people and lacks basic human consideration for others. For all these reasons, we do not recommend attending...

Rude staff, bland food. Shame when they have a lovely view near the sea.

The lady didn't want to make eye contact and treated every customer as if they were an interruption from her work. Very disappointed.

Kamari tours led us here on a pointless day rather than give us time to eat at one of the lovely places up in Pyrgos. Instead we descended a lovely area in a rush only to have little choice along the strip for fast food (Kamari schedule).
