Kritikos Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

Unfortunately this year I won't go again ... The season started really bad. I ordered some appetizers and 2 main courses including the "biftekia" a dish always made from beef at least in all the other restaurants. Here it's made half pork have beef and was not specified on the menu, minced meet and as a consequence there were big pieces of fat and my kids could not eat it. I asked Katerina (owner's kid) if there is another option cause this was not written in the menu and my 2 kids can't eat nor we, her answer was "No, it's already on the receipt!" And I said shouldn't you specify it on the menu and she said usually clients ask!!" Well 8 Euros will not make a difference to me either way I paid the price and didn't eat the plate but the unwillingness to help a situation like this by changing a plate probably means a great deal to them. We went here because of the high ratings. It’s not worth it at all. Don’t waste your time, money, or appetite. There were about 18 tables and only one server, so service was super super slow. Apparently this is a regular problem. She wrote down our order wrong (gave us one extra thing we didn’t order). The non-smoking section smelled completely like smoke. The food was greasy and came without any sauce at all. They also charged us €1.60 for the “free bread” they set on the table. 😡 which we only noticed after scrutinizing and google translating our receipt. The parking lot is very small. We visited Kritikos after a 10km walk under the sun from Oia to Fira - i.e. we were looking for a super easy going place to recharge our batteries. We only cared to came here for the food and couldn’t care less about the environment and the service. We had pork sausage, smoked pork chops (both were really amazing) and the lamb (not the best one I’ve ever had, but overall tasty on the grill) and some salad and tzatziki. Service was fast, they spoke English and we could pay with POS.
