My wife and I recently had the pleasure of attending a cooking class for two at the Aroma Avlis restaurant, located within the enchanting Artemis Karamolegos Winery in Santorini. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an ambiance that set the stage for an extraordinary culinary journey.

Before the class began, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful garden surrounding the winery, where the scent of fresh herbs filled the air. It was a delightful experience to witness the ingredients of our upcoming dishes growing right before our eyes. This garden-to-table concept added an extra level of connection to the food we would soon be preparing.

The cooking class took place in a spacious room with large windows that afforded us a breathtaking view of the sunset as we honed our culinary skills. The natural light flooding the room created an inviting and inspiring atmosphere, setting the perfect backdrop for our gastronomic adventure.

Under the expert guidance of the talented chef, we embarked on a culinary journey through the flavors of Greece. We began by crafting a classic Greek salad, utilizing vibrant tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, tangy feta cheese, and briny Greek olives. The chef shared insightful tips and techniques, ensuring that we created a dish that truly captured the essence of Greek cuisine.

Next, we learned the secrets behind creating the perfect Fava, a traditional Greek dish made from yellow split peas. The chef explained the importance of patience and attention to detail, and we relished in the satisfaction of preparing a dish that was rich in flavor and creamy in texture.

We then ventured into the realm of tomato fritters, a delightful and crispy treat. The chef shared a family recipe that perfectly balanced the sweetness of ripe tomatoes with the lightness of the batter. It was a pleasure to fry these little bites of heaven and savor their deliciousness.

The highlight of the cooking class was undoubtedly the sautéed pork with a sweet wine reduction. The chef demonstrated the art of balancing flavors and taught us how to create a tantalizing sauce that elevated the dish to new heights. The aroma that filled the room as we cooked was simply irresistible, and the taste was nothing short of exceptional.

To complete our culinary adventure, we indulged in a dessert that combined the best of both worlds: ice cream with fried phyllo dough. The chef skillfully guided us through the process of creating a sweet and crispy treat that was the perfect ending to our meal.

Throughout the class, the chef's passion for Greek cuisine and dedication to providing an immersive experience shone through. Their expertise and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of the class, and they were patient and encouraging, allowing us to truly embrace the joy of cooking.

Our cooking class at Aroma Avlis Restaurant was an extraordinary experience that combined the flavors of Greece with the beauty of Santorini. From the garden stroll to the stunning sunset view, every moment was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable culinary adventure. We left with newfound knowledge, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for the art of Greek cooking. If you're looking to immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of Santorini, this cooking class is an absolute must. We can't wait to return and continue our culinary exploration at Aroma...

My husband and I initially came here as part of a private tour of the island for lunch and wine tasting. We were completely blown away by the experience. My husband, who normally does not like wine, thoroughly enjoyed every glass he tried - even picking out favourites! The service at the winery was some of the best we have experienced. The tasting menus (and the process of the wine making) were carefully explained to us. This allowed us to make a good choice on the wine tasting options we wanted to try. The staff here were warm and welcoming, simply exceptional at what they do!

This food is genuinely some of the best we have ever eaten. Our tour guide highly recommended this place for food, and we understand why. Everything was presented immaculately, and each flavour used has clearly been thoughtfully considered. The words "this is so good" did not stop coming out of my mouth.

It truly was a dining experience like no other. It was instantly the highlight of our honeymoon.

The decor was beautiful and inviting, with stunning views. In the heights of summer, this winery served as a respite from the unforgiving sun. Also to mention, it is SPOTLESS throughout.

The overall experience was just so good that we had to go back one more time before we returned home. The quality of the food and wine, plus the high standards of service, lived up to our initial experience and we are delighted that we returned.

The price for what we ordered was less than we had anticipated both times we ate there. The pricing for such delectable wines and dishes are very reasonable.

We would return to Santorini simply to dine here again, and will highly recommend...

This place is a must visit for food lovers in Santorini. We had the best time here. If you are interested and also love your wine, then a lovely private tour of the wine making facilities and cellar are available. A very knowledgable and relatable lady called Michelle guided us through, expertly, before seating us for our incredible dinner. We chose to sit in the garden and the ambiance was perfect. It’s a cleverly curated courtyard style space amongst mature olive trees and shrubs with beautiful flowers. The tables were well spaced and it felt intimate without being secluded from the atmosphere. The food… Crikey! I had a take on Moussaka to start. IT WAS THE BEST I’VE TRIED. Jenny had the octopus which was also delicious! For main I ate perfectly braised veal cheeks in a sauce made from their dessert wine - Vinsanto and Jenny had a fab chicken dish (generously portioned) with a cream sauce, asparagus and sautéed potatoes. All memorably delicious. The staff were all brilliant and attentive with great suggestions for wine pairings. Relaxed, professional, sharp service. I HIGHLY recommend.

We ended up buying a bottle of the PYRITIS ‘23 (a stunning dry white, in a...

The location was an absolute lovely seething for an outdoor dinner. Loved the lush plantings and decor! We started with the house rose, which was good, and the Greek maze sampler which we also enjoyed. The sauces/dips were very nice and the toasted pita a great accompaniment. The server who delivered this was very to the point and seemed to absolutely hated that he needed to tell us about the spreads. The remainder of the team seemed very welcoming and engaging. The next two dishes were the Beef Patty’s and the Rigatoni. We were disappointed with both these dishes. The Beef Patty’s were slightly over cooked and not as flavorful as we had expected from the description. The Rigatoni pasta was cooked perfectly and looked amazing. However, it lacked any flavor except from the cheese, which was good, but lacked any seasoning in the sauce.
