This was my first ever wine museum visit and I enjoyed it. I was intrigued by the history of wine on the island, how it is unique and how technology evolved over the years. It has an entire history of how wine cultivation started on Santorini with exhibits, older machines or parts and in the end there are old barrels of wine which makes the experience even more authentic. At the end of the tour there are some personal artefacts of the family who owns the business and some old ledgers on display. There is also a TV that was showing the volcanic history of the island which is closely linked to wine cultivation. I loved that part!
It was an audio tour - devices were provided by the museum - and there is good amount of written text next to exhibits to understand the narrative. There are packages available which has the same museum experience but depending on the package you get to taste the wine selection at the end of the tour. My husband and I took the one with 7 wines, all of them were brilliantly explained although it was hard for me to keep up my pace of drinking with the explanations so I got a break in between to enjoy & experience the wine. There was a platter of nibbles for us to go with the wine selection which was delicious.
There is also a shop with a wide range of wine/bar related merchandise. I could see there is a cafe but it was closed probably due to off-season. There is a restroom outside which is clean and well-kept. When we were there, it was just us and another couple of people. However, in tourist season I can imagine the place could be crowded so I would recommend booking tickets. Also, the timings are different in off season - in winters the last tour starts at 4pm which is different for summer/tourist season.
Overall we had a great time and I would recommend this place to anyone who loves...

The Santorini Wine Museum really shows you their whole family history, starting from when the brothers landed in Santorini all the way to current day. It's a fascinating experience because of how vastly different and hostile the environment is to most crops, and thus causing. The vineyards to be grown and maintained in a unique way. If you've seen these round bush looking weaved crops in pictures of Santorini, the Wine Museum can tell you all about them. You're also shown and explained the evolution of the winemaking and vineyard maintenance and harvesting equipment that were used in Santorini.
Following the museum experience that is set up entirely in underground winemaking caves, you then come above ground again to taste some of the wines you've heard so much about at this point!
The wines themselves are excellent. You're served them by very knowledgeable and friendly staff and all tastings of course include the appropriate foods to accompany each wine (crackers, cheese, cherry tomatoes, figs and dark chocolate), all local of course.
You have a choice of packages that will involve tasting a certain list of wines, ranging from Bronze, through Gold to Diamond (see image). Wines can be changed around on request though, so they are flexible to tailor it all to your tastes.
My wife and I definitely had an amazing experience here at the wine Museum and will definitely take the memories, knowledge and wine...

Visiting the Santorini Wine Museum proved to be an interesting diversion during our stay on the island. We had booked our tickets well in advance and the organization reflected this preparation, particularly in their warm accommodation of our toddler. The staff, professional to the core, went the extra mile to cater to her needs, which was truly appreciated.
The museum tour is uniquely structured. You are provided with a device reminiscent of an old Nokia cellphone. As you navigate through the museum, you dial in numbers corresponding to different exhibits to receive audio explanations. This added an interactive dimension to the experience, allowing us to delve into the island's rich winemaking history at our own pace. The entire walkthrough is concise, wrapping up in roughly 20 minutes.
Post-tour, we embarked on the gold wine sampling package. The wines were decent, though not particularly standout. Nevertheless, we did purchase a bottle to complement our dinner later that evening. It's worth noting the expertise of the sommelier, who provided valuable insights into the wines' profiles and pairing suggestions.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a brief but enlightening experience on Santorini's wine heritage, the museum is worth a visit. However, for the true wine aficionados, there are other wineries on the island that might offer a more in-depth and satisfying...
